Ok finally some PROGRESS:arms:

I put my 28cc domes back in but did not check the compression yet.. i will soon tho... Im getting a brand new Snap On gauge. I really think something was wrong with the gauge i used, and i didnt use the same gauge to check the comp on both sizes.. so i want to get a good gauge and see.

Anyways, i kept messing with the carb... First thing, as someone said here, the return on the FS is drilled out, so i wasnt using a restrictor in the return and thats one of the problems i had as there was no pressure in the carb. So i put a 60 jet in the return line, and that made things a lot better.

My jetting is way far from anyone recommended (135, 125).. Now i have a 150 main, 145 low and a 95 spring with a 2.3 NS and the ski RIPS compared to before, and feels like theres more power to be unleashed, but i stopped here till i check my compression... i want to get my compression to around 195 then do the fine tuning. Im sure i need to change some more jets around.

Now how do i know if im good where im at or need to change the jets?
When i spoke to Ed Barzina he told me to use a 147.5 to 155 main, so i went in between and just threw in a 150 main.
How do i know if i need a bigger or smaller main?

On the low screw setting.. Does anything over 1.5 turns out mean that the jet is too small?

Thats all Folks.. ill post when i check my compression.

Thanx for all the help fellaz

Zane...

Well.. no leak down test was done cuz i think non of the mechanics i know here do it or know about it. :banghead:

Squish test? Hell.. If i tell a mechanic here to do a squish test he'll prolly think im askin to date his daughter or talking bout some vegetable.:chairshot:

My timing is set at 0 but was not done with a degree wheel... same scenario as above.

MAN! After reading this I think you should of let Paul send you back your motor completed and carbs tuned, ready to install, add gas and ride! You dont want to blow up your new mod!
Be patient and do things right.

You definitely should do a leak down test on a new motor or you might be pulling the motor back out due to a air leak and having a lean runaway or seizure.

Squish is basically a "ledge" projecting beyond combustion chamber area.
As the piston approaches the ledge, a rapid squeezing action is applied to the air/fuel mixture contained in the area between the piston dome and the ledge. This squishing action forces the trapped mixture rapidly into the combustion chamber area, creating a greater mixture turbulence. Additionally, the small volume and large surface area of the squish band allow a better cooling of the end gases to help prevent detonation.

The squish clearance can be measured by inserting a piece of resin core solder(no acid core!) into the combustion chamber, rotating the engine through Top Dead Center, removing the solder and measuring the thickness of the compressed solder.
