Ok, so someone with good knowledge of mag pumps and past experiences pleas chime in here. I've done hours of searching on xh2o and google reading dozens of threads on mag pumps but it doesn't seem like any of them answer my questions or they all contradict one another.
So here it is: We are talking freestyle only; what mag pump is best for what motor? I know that's a vague question but what I'm trying to understand is why some people are saying never go over a 144mag on a limited 701, meanwhile I'm reading of others that are putting 148's or even 155 mag's mated to the same engine... Then I hear of people going as high as 160 mag pumps on many different sized motors, and controversially i hear of people suggesting a 140 mag on a limited 701. So WTH?
My current setup is a 735cc, ported 61x, 62t cases, dual 44 carbs (tau ceti style filters), MSD enhancer, b-Pipe, tnt waterbox, lightweight flywheel and couplers, high comp head, and vforce2 reeds. I eventually want to go to a 900cc+ but that will not be for at least a year or so, however in the meantime I want to get a mag pump to give me better hookup, preferrably not having to buy another pump when i upgrade the motor. Thoughts?
