So, after this weekend costing me a contour roam cam it made me wonder...how many of you have either pulled a trick..or crashed then resurfaced only to say "oh fawk" wheres the cam??
was having a great weekend, and what i think would've been some neat footage..at the very least some neat stills from the videos. one of the last rides of the day i was doing a wot straight run..started to chine walk.. go a major speed wobble and next thing i knew..i was a ragdoll bouncing across the water. surfaced and realized i had no more goggles..and no more camera..if you wonder why goggles..im in canada..the water is damn cold right now so it helps with the freezing splashed to the face under the helmet
maybe that was the problem..had the countour mounted with a goggle mount on the strap..use it tons on the dirt and mtn bike but i guess the water impact tore the whole thing off my head..injury free so that's the only real concern..thankfully those countour roam's are sub 200$ so replacement isnt too bad.
now to start thinking of/design a "leash" system that isnt anchored to the mount itself..that way if/when the next big bail happens to tear off the mount...the cam will not sink to the bottom.
feel free to share your tales..or solution to the leash idea...i'm thinking very thin steel line, through cam and to something solid ie the chin starp steel eyelet on a helmet for example...or to a mounting bolt on the hull?
