Looking to Project X2 L2Buy and advice!! please

Hey guys!

I was an SJ rider for a few years and sold it due to need of cash at the time. im in a better place now and looking for a PROject X2

Any Advice of
~Which Year of Hull to look for
~imma be lake cove free riding and chasing boats with it.
~What would be the idle Engine to put in this beast
Mods that you feel are essential for me fly off boat wakes...

or should i invest into another 08+ SJ?

I got two x2s but in Ohio lol. Probably parting them out currently 99% complete.

If you arent too big and want a fixed steer think about modding a Superjet. That will provide better acceleration and are easier to find parts for, plus it will be easy to sell. The biggest problem with X2s are that they are OLD and need work. The most importand question is how much time ond money are you willing to spend on a valueless ski? 750-800 engines will fit, modern impellers can be modified to fit. The driveshaft is a bit of a unicorn because ALL old ones are worn out, I think there are aftermarket units for around $300. Combine that with a new modified impeller and grate, now you have over $800 in a basic but reliable pump. Most riders really struggle to make 750 electronics fit. Most appear like they were thrown in and strapped down. Many mount their Ebox to a "surf brace" That works well but you lose the hood foam so the ski will now sink like a rock. You can keep the foam by making a battery box and mount a 750-800 standup E-box on top, they fit like a glove. Then there is the horrible stock steering head! Anyway, I started with a $700 X2 and after many hours and $5K I have a completely reliable 50mph ski that should last 300 hours before its next overhaul.
