Looking for ideas on buildup of my B1

Didnt want to highjack anybody elses thread so started my own...

I have a '93 B1 that I bought about a year ago. I think its pretty much a stock ski with a bunch of bolton stuff done to it - B pipe, protech mono head, R&D Intake and filter, Mikini twin carbs - unsure of size. Also R&D ride plate and it has intake grate - not sure of brand. The guy I bought it from did not know what else if anything had been done to it. I guess the local dealer built it for his son - who did not like it and never rode it.

Anyways - was looking at group k big bore or something like that. Just moved down here to Wilmington NC - will be riding in the surf. Looking for more bottom end and midrange. Still not a great rider on it and probably never will be, but damn its a fun machine to ride. And more power would be more fun..

you can have your cylinder ported and flywheel lightened, that will help a lot. Timing advance. Find out what your compression is, you may be able to increase it do give more snap.

if you plan to go big bore, you will have to spend a lot more - BB itself, new pistons etc, new domes for the head, unless it doesn't have interchangeable domes, then you'd need a new head. plus, you'd have to rejet your carbs for BB.

BTW, i love that area of NC. We used to vacation at Wrightville Beach.

I did a compression check when I bought it - it was 150-155 if I remember right. I bought the ski pretty cheap, so I dont mind spending a little on a big bore, or different cylinders, etc.

Yes this is a nice area - I just need to meet some people to go riding with. I'm a virgin to the ocean lol.

#1. you will get better on it. "seat time" will make you better.
I don't understand why Yamaha didn't sell that ski with a 760. Keep your eyes open for a short block. Drop in a 760 and use your components (pipe, electronics).

Try a stainless prop as well. The stocker is good, but you may get a little more response out of a new one.

Like Frosty said, get that flywheel lightened!

150-155 psi.... you could easily bump that up to 175-180 with a head and get a lot more throttle response and power without sacrificing the reliablity for surf riding.. don't forget your bilge pump!!!
