hey, I am looking for a new exhaust for my 701 RN. As much as I would love to get a factory bpipe. there is no way I will be able to afford one for a long while.
My questions: what do you think about the coffman pipe, like the one pictured below.
Or what other pipes are out there that I could use that are cheaper than the bpipe?

Im really not trying to cut corners, I found that out when i tryed getting into the sport with a 650sx instead of a superjet but I am having issues with my stock one and it is starting to mess up my head. My current options are to find a cheaper aftermarket pipe or stop riding. there is alot of other work that still needs to be done on the ski and paying bill is more important than getting a little more power.
My skill level isnt even at the point I need that much more power. I just need something that will get the job done correctly for a year or 2 untill I can get back on my feet and get to the point of modding the engine.

That is a Yamaha manifold with a Kawasaki pipe. It will fit the engine but not a SJ hull. A Sizzler appears shorter and its tail cone is aimed lower. A Sizzler or old Protec 650 pipes work very well on 701s but their tuning is shorter so make sure to get a low pitched prop.

I am currently running a Sizzler on a 701 and it works great! I would say it has a smoother powerband than the b pipe. The bpipe hits super hard once it hits the high enough rpms whereas the Sizzler just improves the whole powerband.

I came from a stock exhaust as well and it made a night and day difference.

well my stock exhaust is actually perfectly fine, the problem that I am having is that I cant keep it bold to the head. I ride 100% surf and the big heavy exhaust can only is staying bolted to the motor for a couple ride at a time. last time I went out it snapped the mount bolt and since I didn't notice it it started grinding down the top of the head where it normally mounts to.

Thanks for the info Kevbo that pic is of the ones that is for sale. could you elaberate a little more with the prop/ shorter tuning issue that I would get from those. I just have a stocks 96 prop on it now.

Also another question: what exactly is the advantage to having a dry pipe and what going into tuning them and how does that tuning benefit them?

Do any of the Blaster pipes work? I am finding alot more WB1 pipes for sale than anything.

Kevbo, would this be the superjet one that you are talking about that you were saying slopes down more towards the front of the ski.

I have a sizzler on my squarenose with a 701 and the power is more mid range / top end. I think thats what was meant by getting a lower pitched prop with this pipe. Still makes good power.

I recognize those pictures, looks like they are from Mark Letner the 'jetskibuzzard' amongst so many other aliases. If your looking at buying that on ebay make sure its not this guy. If it ships from the Fort Bragg/Sacramento area its likely him and he is notorious for scamming people, selling mixed junk for high dollars. There are a few threads here and a giant thread on pwctogay about him- background check the seller out on the forums first.

I don't know who is selling the correct yamaha one but it is from eBay. the one that is mismatched is also on eBay but it says the location is in san Diego and there is also a link to the eBay page here on the X.

Jetx since I'm not a member on that forum it doesn't show me any info about it. How much is he asking for that stuff. Thanks.

That pipe is very top heavy as well and will have the same problems in the surf as the stocker. I traded off a RIVA red pipe for the same reasons.

The Sizzler is similar in configuration to the B-pipe and while the cast chamber is heavier, it still stands up well and will serve you well until you can afford a B-pipe. My first RN 701 had one on it and I got several trouble free years out of it.

I've used the Sizzler on SJ and 750SX. I found excellent performance using the flow controls as laid out by Harry at Group K. The SJ mount is simpler and sturdier than the Kawi setup on the SX. Still running Coffmans on my B1'S and aint looking to change.

thanks Jetx but I am going to hold off for now and try to find a good deal on a decent pipe that wraps around the bottom like a bpipe or a sizzler or something, hopfully I can sell my 650sx to pay for something or maybe find someone to trade some gun parts or something for one. thanks for all the help guys.

I run a pro tec Mach 1 with water screws like b pipe. I was the same as you didn't want big big outlay of b pipe, since I fitted it never looked back and gives same power as b pipe IMHO

Have you compared it back to back to a b-pipe ?
