Looking for a blaster

HI iam looking at buying a blaster and was wondering what i should look for when i purchasing one i will be ridng lake michigan with it and have no problem wrenching on it please help

As for the hull I would check for repairs. Also check the hull nut inserts for the motor mounts, ride plate and pump. Start it, does it run..

thanks is there a certain year i should look for single carb or the dual carb

The 96 model has the dual carb 61x/62t engine. It is rated at 73hp vs 63hp for the earlier models with the straight 61x single carb engine. They are both great engines but 10hp is 10hp. Also be sure and check out the back transom area on either side of the pump. The hull can get damaged here pretty easy.

dito, check the transom for repairs!! I got caught with that when I bought my first ski! ripped open on the first ride!

if you can get through the grate, see if theres any play with the shaft. youcan also check out the wear ring/impeller clearance by shining a flashlight up into the grate and looking into the pump. a compression test wouldnt be bad either!
