The garage is warming up right now. So I'll be out there glassing "my" ski in about 15 minutes. Oh yeah......I might be able to get to yours also.:scratchchin:

We didn't think we were going to be able to get them painted in time....but I stopped by a local body shop out here in the sticks, and he said he'd hook me up CHEAP!!!! He's gonna prep, paint and bake them for me for about the same or cheaper than it would cost us to spray them ourselves!!!:thewave:

I'll get some pics posted in a while.

Here's a few pics of the progress. Hopefully have the footholds in and be ready to foam by Thursday night......if they don't go off to the paint shop tomorrow. Might have the done first for time scheduling reasons, and then finish the foothold install, foaming and turf. That should give us a week for reassembly and to be ready for the water for final tuning. :439:

Notice the new 62 dollar "fiberglass dryer"!

Wish us luck!!

Dropped the hulls off at the paint shop tonight, so hopefully we'll have them back by Saturday so we can finish the foothold install and foam. (for which we're going to mask the hell out of the skiis)!
Was following Penguins build thread and the stories about foaming nightmares really sank in since this will be our first attempt at it.:eek:mfg:

Would have rather been able to finish glassing and foaming before the paint job....but time just won't allow that.

I'll post some pics of the paint jobs when I get the skiis back....hopefully Sat. morning.

We're getting close.....think we're actually going to make it in time!!

Well...finally got the footholds mounted ready to glass in. Taking a quick break and going to get back out there and start glassing. Here's a few pics of the footholds and a preview of the paint jobs.
Figure we can be done glassing and foaming tomorrow and starting the reassembly process. Should be totally done by Tuesday hopefully.

Thanks.
Finally. Been kind of worried whether we'd get them done in time for the ride or not....but I'm finally optimistic! Still quite a bit to do, but the hardest part is over. First time doing a project ski...and footholds suck!!!!!
Definately learned a lot of do's and do not's for next time though!!

Well..here's some pics of the finally completed projects!!! (minus the rear bumper on my ski. Haven't put that on yet.) I'm just posting pics of my ski. Wayne will post pics of his.
3 days too late for what our goal was of getting to the coast....but hey, at least they're finally done and ready to get inverted!!!:brap:
Considering where we were at 4 weeks ago....we're pretty damn happy. Jammed a whole lotta work into a short period of time!
We had unfoamed, gutted, no foothold, bare ass hulls on Feb. 12th, and now they're complete. Whooo-hooooo!!! Never ever want to re-turf again though! I thought glassing sucked, but I'd do that any day of the week over that turfing crap! All and all though for first time projects, they turned out pretty damn good in my opinion. Learned a lot of what to's and what to not's.....more what to not's of course! It was a fun experience for the most part (except when I wanted to light my ski on fire!):soapbox: several times I might add!
But now that they're finally done...I absolutely can not wait until she's on the water and I'm flippin'!!

Hope you all had a blast in Galveston! Wish we woulda been there!
