long rod stroker vs short rod? cyclinders?

I have a setup thats using a rad 5 mill billet long rod crank with a spacer. Are their cylinders out there that can run this crank without a spacer. I have used it in the past with a enhancer at 25 static, she gets pretty hot in the upper revs with only 4 deg retard at 21. With the longer dwell time at tdc what is the max advance it could handle with a advent or TL if the final timing got as low as 14.
What does a long rod setup do with the power curve compared to a short rod assuming everything else is the same, with ign porting and such

I always thought spacers and rods accomplished the exact same thing in two completely different ways depending on which way you go on each. I would think the only difference would be a spacer increases crank case volume.

I'm no engine builder but I would think if you used 2mm longer rods, it effectively lowers the ports but brings the pistons closer to the head. If you ran a 2mm spacer, it does the exact opposite. If you ran both at the same time, you'd essentially do nothing to the engine other than increase crank case volume.

in theory thats what I mean by port timing being the same.with the long rods you have to run the spacer, you cant clearance the domes enough without a spacer,so if the long rods were swaped for shorts and spacer was removed and port timing stayed the same, how much dif would the power curve be?
