I know some people on here are experts at hunting deals and parting skis for profit. I'm wondering if it makes sense to make a list of the most desirable models, and corresponding price ranges that people could to turn a profit on parting skis. I understand that there are a lot of variables at play here, but it might be interesting to see how things compare region to region, ski to ski.

For example:

2004 Yamaha Model X
Running: buy at $2,000 or less
Not running: buy at $800 or less
Potential profit from part out: $800 - $1,200

You're taking all the trial and error out of it. Just start buying deals and you will see what's worth it or not.

It's a slow process and definitely can't be survived on to pay bills. It's great for a couple bucks in your pocket as side work though.

yup sorry mate its all dried up now. I used to do really well out of it as well. But good luck finding any deals these days. There is a couple of models I still buy but im not letting that out. Even they are hard to come buy as well

I'm not looking to quit my day job, but it sounds like it's probably way more trouble than it's worth. I was just looking for a way to maybe scavenge parts and accelerate my ability to save up for the stuff I really want. Thanks!

I remember in early-mid 2000's there were only 2-300 listing on Ebay when you searched for Yamaha Superjet, now there are 5,000. I did some good parting out back then too... There are still some good deals around today, but few and far between..
