Linear power curve?

Whats the secret to getting lots of power, but keeping it linear and rideable? I have the basic 701, b-pipe, advent, and Full-spec set up, and it rips, but wants to idle or haul the mail-no in between.

Is this a function of pipe, carbs, or both. No porting is done at this point. Boat is primarily for surf, but does see some flatwater use, and tricks (like subs and fountains)are very difficult because of this "hit". Cruising is almost near impossible.

Is there a way to have all this power when you need it, but to have it be linear, like the stock set up?

I went back to stock 38's for that very reason, tired of the hit. It rips nice and smooth now, just ask Suva.

put a clutch on it and feather it like a moto-x bike...LOL. That'd actually be sweet. Keep it on the powerband whenever u want.

lightswitch, on or off, hair trigger.

not the sort of powercurve you would want to a newbie to ride on.

No newbie here, but for certain situations that abrupt power delivery is too much and too hard to control.....................For others, you are just pinning it, and can take all you can get. Hard to have both I guess, but figured some of you guys have done some testing with this.

I tend to agree with some of the posters about the 38s having a more linear response. Every time I've ridden a friend's ski with 44s or larger, I always feel like it takes longer to feel the power compared with my stock 38s. I won't say one is better than the other, but I have always personally preferred the fact that small throttle adjustments are more easy to feel with my 38s.

I've got one friend that's got 46s on his ski and I secretly refer to his ski as "The Choo Choo Train." Once his ski gets up to speed, it's monstrous, but getting there just feels like it takes FOREVER.

I dont have this issue at all...............as soon as I move the throttle, it hits so hard its tough to hold on to. Subs have become more difficult because any movement that knocks me off balance (and causes me to hit the throttle) will accelerate the ski so hard it dumps me off underwater and launches like a Tomahawk cruise missile. Fountains are near impossible now too. The power is great for launching off a wave, but at other times its too much. I want all the power, but with more control. I'm not asking for much, huh?
