limiting rope

Hi, when I purchased a second hand SJ, it came with a limiting rope pre-installed. The question I have is where do I put the big rope loop on the SJ. Do I put it on the hood latch? Ive looked at pics and they have the loop on the hood latch but I cant close the latch when I have the rope loop in that place. Any help guys? Thanks

Yes the rope can be squished under the hood latch but not at the very end of the hook. You have to pull the loop down over the bottom latch as you clamp the latch. Then if you want to lock the latch you need to push hard against the latch and twist the lock knob at the same time. That is the only way i found it worked with the stock latch.

I did this for a year but then made it easier on me and bolted a little stainless steel "U" bolt to the hull right next to the latch, put a little clip on the end of the rope and i use that now.

So the method of squishing the rope under the latch doesnt weaken the hold of latch on the hood?

carabiner to its own mount, dont want the hood latch getting ripped off and taking the ski down with it.
