I am a SXR guy, but have owned FX1s, Octanes, Superjets, 750sx, X2, etc. All with Factory pipes, jetinetis flywheels, etc, etc. Like everyone else, I think the SXR is a pig, but love the way it rides. I never liked how the Superjet handled.
I understand the power to weight ratio thing. What I dont understand, is my FX1 had the superjet pump mod, pipe, etc and weighed about 265 lbs or so. I never really thought the seat of the pants, power to weight ratio was that great. Looking at the BOB site, with gen 2 hull and yamaha drive line, the ski is 272 lbs or so.
On the trinity site, the lowest priced sxr hull is 115 lbs. I think my stock sxr hull is about 150 lbs. That would make a Trinity, with stock parts, about 35 lbs less than a stock sxr ski. It would still be 360 lbs. Thats about what my Octanes were. The Octanes were a bit heavy too in my opinion.
Now, i would really like one of these aftermarket hulls if it made a big difference in seat of the pants thrill. By big, I would say the difference between a stock ski, and one with a factory pipe. Better yet, a pipe and a jetinetics. Is this realistic with a 115lbs aftermarket hull?
Not sure that my math or thinking is correct, so can I please get some feedback on this? Anyone near Gloucester, MA have a aftermarket hull? Thanks, Dan
