My full carbon hull is about 250Lbs. ready to ride. I ride flatwater, and it's too light. I'm 145Lbs (tank full). I like how it feels rec riding and playing, but a stock RN feels much more planted. When I jump off a 2-4ft. wave it feels like the brakes are on when I land. The ski literally doesn't have the weight to maintain momentum on the landings. A heavier ski plows along easier.
I can see where I could save some more weight by using a smaller battery ( I have a ETX20L now) and by using a small tank or even some lighter fasteners. In my case I doubt it will help the ski, but a heavier ski may be improved. There must be a happy medium. BTW, my choice of light battery would be a ETX12. Lighter than a 16, without sacrificing too many amps. Yeah, I know the 9 will start my 4 cylinder sport bike all day, but I like the extra insurance a larger battery might give me.
