Other Lifevest

Anyone have suggestion for a lifevest. Bought a Yamaha Superjet and would like one that has a pocket on vest to hold wallet and cellphone/marine radio. Looked around and could not find one. Only storage accessible without opening up hatch is taken up by the fire extinguisher.

Only thing i could think of is a fishing style life vest, i ended up buying. A small dry bag at walmart and tieing it, to hood latch

Might be worth looking into vests intended for kayaking, they are a bit more $$$ since they're specialized, but the do offer vests with pockets, etc.

Get a drypak.

I prefer neoprene based fitted vests. They are heavier and won't float as long, but they are heavily padded. I got hit by a ski once and would have broken several ribs, but my vest has about 1" of padding. It was horribly painful for about 2 weeks but no broken ribs.

Aqua pak has a smaller waters seal than drypak. I have kept my phone inside of them under my vest. You can use a smart phone through a drypak for sure. Not sure on aqua pak, I broke that a while ago. Drypak works well but the seal is thick and hurts under a vest.

Lucky for me, my girl carries a mesh backpack with a drybox with papers, plugs, extra GoPro battery, etc. She just throws it on the beach when we get out there. It's not actually much of a hassle at all. I got a copy of my DL, just so that it's always in the box and ready to roll.

I've sported it a couple times though. You never know when you are gonna get that craving and need some money to get chicken and waffles
