So I've got the stock steering system in my '93 X2 and it sucks. What have you guys done, either mods to the stock system or after market systems that you have put on? What have the results been and what was the cost?

Remove the adjustment shaft from teh stock steering and replace it with a nut and bolt. It will clamp he sterring down better and help alot with the sloppyness of the steering

Or buy an accusteer $165

Similar. The umi is a tad bit higher plus double the money. I have a Accusteer, well built and sturdy. Roy at getrealperformance are letting the last ones go for around $150. That's a bargain!
I am not sure if the new umis have quick turn incorporated, the old ones did not.

here is a pic off a accusteer tht i put on my x2 . one off the best things i ever did on my x2 super easy to fit and really nice to ride with

I like the umi better. The Accusteer gets loose fairly quickly and has to be tighened. Accusteer is also kinda low for my taste, ya you can get raised bars, but for some reason I dont really like it that much. Umi also has replacement parts, and is fairly easy to rebuild once you get it down. My UMI has quickturn, as does the accusteer.

You can see below for comparison, the 95 (green ski) has Accusteer and the 93 has the UMI. Umi is slightly higher and more comfortable for me. (I'm 6')

I used bolts through the holes and I cut down the stops on my steering arm, however I still want a accusteer because its pretty sloppy still....not bad but it makes me angry
