Lets put together a Bearing and seal reference...

So I just picked up some replacement bearings for my mid-shaft and pump and it got me thinking that we need to compile some part #s so you don't physically need to have the bearing/seal in hand to order from a supplier. So, if you have a rebuild kit there or anything torn apart, take a look at the bearings and seals and give some numbers and what it's for (61x, 62t, etc).

Here's what I have so far:

93-? (someone verify, all 93+ the same including 08-09?) Mid-shaft housing bearing (quantity - 1): Koyo 6205RD, Replace with 62052RSC3

90-? (someone verify, mine's a 92) Pump housing bearing (quantity - 2): Koyo 6205R, replace with 62052RSC3. This is the same as the mid-shaft housing, and is a sealed bearing. The stock 6205R is not a sealed bearing. To use this in stock configuration, just use a sharp instrument and remove the seal.

93-? (again verify) Mid-shaft housing seal (quantity - 2): KCR MK025N1, have not found a replacement yet.

Do us all a favor and go dig up some of those old parts you have lying in the garage and post up some numbers.

Well crap, I looked all through that section and didn't see it until right now. I have gotten used to ignoring Stickies :banghead: I did see all the mcmaster-carr parts available.

However, I did not notice anything in there about crank seals. Guess that's all we really need. Are they all the same, 6m6, 61x, 62t?

6m6 mid-shaft bearings the same? 08-09 stuff all the same?

You could check it out yourself.....

But a quick peek at '90 and also '09 shows same P/N's for crank seals.

I went to some of the best bearing supply houses in houston and no one could find the correct midshaft seals for my square. The bearings yes but not any of the seals. good luck

Also to add, the mid-shaft bearings were nowhere in the tech section that I could find. I have confirmed that it is the same bearing

Here is one quote from this thread:

michael950 said:
These are the pump bearings used in the WaveBlaster and SJ (96-04 / maybe to 06) pumps.

Blaster/SJ Pump Bearings
Stock bearings: Koyo 6205
For Sealed bearings use: 6205-2RS

Pump Cone:
O-ring 1-15/16"
DASH no: 133

Seal Dimensions:
25mm x 42mm x 6mm
Need 1 single lip & 1 double lip

So here are the dimensions for the pump seals. This does confirm there are 2 seals back to back as shown here #21 & #22.

So, what we are missing is the dimensions for the mid-shaft seals #10 and #11. I'll get a battery for my caliper and check them tomorrow.

So I took the seals in and ordered some new ones. Dim = 25mm x 52mm x 8mm, but they were not available in an 8mm width in a double lip, so ordered 7mm. Should be just fine.

I only found 2 when I took apart mine. It went (from the bulkhead forward) seal, spacer ring, snap ring, bearing, snap ring, seal. I don't know why there are 2 seals shown in the parts break down. Maybe some have 2 seals instead of one seal and a spacer, where it would go, seal, seal (where it leaves a little pocket for the grease to sit in), then snap ring, bearing, snap ring, seal. What's funny, they have the same part for the engine side seal, and the seal that would be internal to the housing, and a different seal number (and more expensive) for the bulkhead side seal. Wish I could answer this one, but I'm just going to put it back together the way I took it apart and hope for the best.

The only thing these seals are here for, is to keep water out of the hull. On mine, the water would have to make it past the first seal, a pocket of grease, a sealed bearing, then another seal. I think I'm good.

Cannibal: Are you sure that you have 6205 bearing? Because i have 5025 bearing, that is same as 6205 bearing but it is a 21.6mm width not 15 like 6205

I replaced that midshaft+bearing with VXR(i think) unit. And now i find that there is much bigger bearing. That 5025 is double row bearing.

edit: i think somebody has allready replaced that cannibals Ski:s bearing and replaced it with cheaper and easily available bearing. Thats why there is that spacer.

edit2: now i look at Superjet service manual and there in section picture shows that there is only one row bearing. So there is then same intermediate housing with two different bearings.

I know a 21.6mm bearing would not fit in there. The snap rings are right up against the bearing.

My housing said 62t on it. I don't know what year ski it is out of. I'm putting it in a 94. There might be some different setups depending on the year of the housing. The spacer is a molded plastic ring. Not something that was shoved in there to take up some room.

So long and thanks for all the fish

Just picked up the bearing/seals to do my intermediate bearing housing.

Same info basically.

bearing - Timken 6205-2RS sealed
seals - Timken 25x52x7 double lip (2 seals in back, 1 in front)

They are the same as I used for my roundnose housing, but going in a squarenose housing this time.

The squarenose had a secondary seal on the front/back which is used to create a gap for grease packing.

Timken are better quality than a lot of the 'rebuild' kits you'll see from WSM and other places.

Total with tax was $13.75 for all my stuff.
