Lesson learned this weekend

So finally a nice hot weekend up here so i can test the new footholds on saturday.

My family and friends are hang out at the sandbar, while i go off an play on the SJ about 1/2 mile away in cove area ( lake).

anyhow..after screwing around and wiping out i popped out of the water and my hood is off and my ski is under the water ..WTF happend...

the bilge was useless as only the handlepole was above the water and the back of the footholds where the new foam is installed !:)cheer:)

i am cursing like mother fer ! im trying to get the hood back on so i can put the bilge on but see marine patrol in the distance.. of course the idiot drives by and doesnt see me flagging him at all.

so after holding the nose of the ski for about 15 mins in the water, a boat finally sees me waving and comes over to help lift hte nose up so the bilge can do its thang !! (seriously this was the best piece of advice given to me)..

anyhow. heres my lesson learned.. when i installed the turf under the hood latch lock thingie, i installed it to close to the latch, which didnt allow it lock correctly...so for those of you that are installing turf, MAKE sure you leave enough space to allow the latch to connect ( about 1/4 inch is what i took off afterwards)....

That and i got a gash on the right side of my eye from the hood from i dont ever remember the thing hitting me...(its not to bad now, but it looks like someone punched me .. lol)

most importanly.. i got the ski running withing a few hours 4 hours, but what a pain the ballz..

so a helmet may be in the works....along witth a new whistle...

never even considered hoodstraps..i've always thought they were used for freestyling in the ocean or something...

Im assuming their primary purpose is to prevent this from happening..

thanks for the tips.. ill have to check it out...

water is out !!

that rule 500 i installed this winter worked wonders.. once the guys on the boat help me lift the nose out of the water.. that bilge pumped out waterl like no other...seriously that compartment was dry in about 5 minutes.

it was the first time i ever saw the bilge in action.. and was quite impressed..

and yes got all the water out of the engine sat nite and drove it sunday a few hours with no problems..
