Surfriding Learning first Backflips ever in a Surf Stance

Been wondering...have you or someone you know learned their first flip ever in a surf stance ? This would be for guys that only ride surf stance with a front foot hold or strap...How much more difficult would it be to get enough rotation to at least nose it in while learning ?

my lil bros doing them only surf stance. i think he is on his 10 flip? to him or others who only do SS flips they pry dont know the difference really.just squat and pull hard. id say wave height would be important around chest high and just hit it with speed. time it so the nose gets punted off the lip and your there.

for me the difference is only on how low you can drop your ass. i can do faster flips in holds but can go bigger in ss.

I will have to say surf stance flips are a lot slower.... Never done them in the surf, but have on flatwater & its fun but you gotta go big!

I don't know how to ride in footholds, they feel scary akward, so I'm not sure, but timing is more critical on surf stance flips. Once you get it its easy. Braaaaap

same here don't know how to ride in footholds...on the timing I would think you have to hit a steeper wave face or a hit some white water off the top...

Is trim needed for learning or would it help ?

Yeah Punk I need a rear foot strap...

You gotta watch hitting waves late with white wash on top.... Hit that white wash to late & it can rip you right off the ski

The amount of decent 4ft + clean faces we get here in FL is very very rare so the trim seems to help people learn faster.... No trim just means you go bigger

Once you learn BF's you can do them any way you like, its just learning what it feels like & you learn over time how to speed up or slow down rotation
