That's exactly how mine looked and turned out to be a leaky needle and seat, soon as I changed mine it ran spot on, might be worth a look?
What do you guys think? my ski was running really ratty today..got worse and worse over the course of the day.. is one of my carbs maybe messed up? look how white that rear plug looks.
compression is 185psi in both jugs
i have been having problems with my ski running bad. it would hardly get going, i would have to feather the throttle and baby it along to get up to planing speed then it would run fine. let off the throttle, and the same thing. out of the water it was missing real bad almost backfiring. i thought i had an electrical/timing issue but skidaddy said to clean the carbs out that it sounded like a lean hesitation/backfire. pulled the carbs apart last night and there was a crap load of rust settled down by the low speed jet. the metal screw and bracket that hold that plastic tab in place was all rusted up. cleaned all that out and it seems to have fixed it. havent water tested it yet but it think it's healthy again.
i think water is getting in the cylinder.. i'll pull the head tonight and see what the o-rings look like.
Yup. $59.99 at DGY. You need terminals and boots though!
Found a similar thing when I finally put on my reading glasses, found small hairs under the clear one way flap on the metering block, and the other carb had a pin hole in it. After checking the filters, there was a small wad of felt/hairs stuck in there, blew em out with air and all good, ready for water test. Also replaced the needle/seats, they both showed a wear ring in the viton tip.i have been having problems with my ski running bad. it would hardly get going, i would have to feather the throttle and baby it along to get up to planing speed then it would run fine. let off the throttle, and the same thing. out of the water it was missing real bad almost backfiring. i thought i had an electrical/timing issue but skidaddy said to clean the carbs out that it sounded like a lean hesitation/backfire. pulled the carbs apart last night and there was a crap load of rust settled down by the low speed jet. the metal screw and bracket that hold that plastic tab in place was all rusted up. cleaned all that out and it seems to have fixed it. havent water tested it yet but it think it's healthy again.
