Leaking through hull

Location

My ski is taking on water where the drive shaft comes through the hull and also starting to cavitate because of this. I'm not sure exactly where with all the shroud and motor in the way but I filled the hull with water and underneath it was slowly dripping from the shaft. What is the most likely cause? Can I get by with just R/R with new orings or would the intermediate shaft assembly need to be replaced bearings and all? Or is it even likely it needs to be resealed around the housing and bulkhead?

I'm pretty sure you need new bearings. I think I read on the other site where someone packed the ouside of the housing with silicone as a temp fix that worked.

more than likely, youll need a whole new housing, seals and bearings.

Why do you say housing also? Aren't these fockers meant to be rebuilt?

2nd question.... is there any way to do this without removing the motor?

it 'could' be just your seals and bearings. but if the rubber separated from the metal (like a motor mount comes apart), its time for a new housing. they are meant to be rebuilt as in bearings and seals, but if the housing, itself, is bad, it go bye bye.

you will, at least, have to move the engine forward.

Put me down for it..... you take paypal?

Thanks,

Nevermind.... I dropped of my housing to get it broken down and order bearings, etc. at the local shop and was able to get it fixed. Owner has repaired many of these before by cleaning them up with a bead blaster and reglueing with some 3M 5134(or something similar?). Says it will last the life of the rest of the housing.

Seems as good as new so I'll test my luck with it.... decided instead of hoarding parts I'll help a brother out and let Nick get it..... keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't fail and end up screwing myself. If it does, hopefully someone else can hook me up.

Nah, I would of remembered if it was 5200... LOL

It's black and dries hard as a rock... started with 5, had a 1 & a 3 in there somewhere too. I'll check 3M's site to see if I can find it. I trust this guy, he knows his ski and said its what he'd do if it was his... could tried to sell $200 in parts but didn't... good shiat.
