I was reading about Team Screams motors and have not been on one but was wondering if the stroker 61x cylinder will out perform a standard stroke lamey motor w/ say freestyle porting?

Hunter, yes you were. You rode my single-carbed 860 a few weeks ago. When I was down there, I rode an 820 5mm 61X Team Scream motor and it hit almost as hard as mine, and it hit a lot harder than any 61X cylinder that I have ridden anywhere.

Dammit, I'm going to have to get in line now for my next build this winter as it sounds like he's getting a surge in business.

I kind of liked when Team Scream was a dirty little secret, but it's also good that Chuckie is getting the recognition that he deserves.

Yes, That's right 61X based cylinders have more bottom end and less upper mid and top when compared to the std configured lamey porting and much cheaper on the wallet. But for real horsepower the lameys are the way to go, but there're not freestyle friendly (R&D castings were designed for mod class racing for top end RPM's) and are costly to build the right (my) way. I can make them hit as hard as the 61x and pull all the way to top end with my water injection set-ups and 'B' pipe mods I do.

I rode a lamey powered std stroke non pwr valve motor w/ dual 44's and was NOT impressed. Just was not there on low end.

I think my standard stroke lamey PV hits well but it is ported for more mid to top end power. That 701 that Paul ported for me hit really nice as well and was very crisp. I just was wondering how say that motor with a 5mm stroker crank would compare to the lamey pv platform. I have only been on a handful of boats.

Yours was the ADA cylinder though, in a light hull w/ a mag pump. I was trying to compare it to mine but was to preoccupied adjusting to the feel of the lightweight hull and just how it handled.

Non PV Lameys require a ton of compression to run decent off the line. That is one of the major reason the PV cylinder is such a hot ticket.

I think Steve's (Lance Lakes) new Team Scream is exactly what you are looking for to compare. He's not too far away, but you better hurry as it's getting cold:)

Steves is a 5 mil 828cc 61x with dual carb and total loss, Completetly setup by team scream/x-metal. Chuckie makes crazy horsepower with this and it ishas very controlable power delivery. the more you squeeze and hold, the more the power comes on. i don't think steve can hold it for 3 seconds cause the ski is gone. Side by side with my 701 he gives it one good blip and he shoots 2 boat lengths ahead of me and i hold mine wot to catch him then he just blips it again and shoots ahead:banghead: Very powerful.

i know smitty's is a 5 mil stroked lamey and his ski pulled my feet outta the foothold when i gassed it. That would be a good side by side comparison. yours too to compare the stroker 61x and the stock lamey. Where you riding tommorrow, we are heading down to pt maitland. Lake ontario is to frickin cold.

Pats Superjets last year were all 5mm strokers, The blue and yellow boat he had then was a wammer hull and 828cc 62 case/61x big bore/5mm/AV gas/dual 46mm's/vilder ign/'B' limited pipe with my pipe mods, Steve's motor is a replica of his/except for av/pump gas.
Pats Watercraft Factory hull ski (white) has a 888cc 5mm/Lamey P.V. big bore motor.
As I stated earlier... the boat we put together for the Nats/WF is stock hull w/783cc 8mm stroker/Lamey P.V./mag pump/MSD-TL/R&D manifold w/stock dual 44mm's.
Next motor in the works will be... 1 or 2 choices, 8mm X Lamey big bore, somewhere about 927cc's, or the new ADA 951 piston big bore/billet cylinder about 967cc's....
Building a 967cc as we speak for a customer, and will base it on how it runs?

I run a 6mm 61x big bore (85mm flats) motor on my build off boat and that thing rips !! Of course it has dual riva 48s and MSd tl

I will be trying out a stock stroke np lamey soon and compare the two. I am very anxious to see.
