Lamey vs 66E

:Banane01: :arms: :cheer: ok now that i got everyone attention LOL ! I have a 66e gp800 eng , i would like to get rid of at least 12 lbs of alluminum so i want to remove the waterbox yet retain the curved pipes and hoses for right side exhaust outlet , has anybody heard a 66e eng without the waterbox ???? its it obnoxiously loud ? im thinkin it might be somewhat muffled due to water being injected at the stinger tip unlike most exhausts ??? any help appreciated ?? btw LAMEY gets everyones attention :haha:

Talk to superramjet. He is about the only one that can help you.

lamey motors are ok if you've never ridden a built 66e. I don't run a waterbox, people look when I fire it up. it's a tad bit loud but on a windy day or at the ocean nobody would notice. Its deep sounding so it's not as annoying. I did get an inline silencer to try to quiet it a little bit. The guys I ride with think I should leave it like it is.

There are ways to quiet a loud ski... water injection into the exhaust, inline silencer like SRJ is trying (although I don't think thye help much), rubber flap over the outlet a la 750SXi.

If i remove the waterbox ill still have four /90 degree elbows 3inch dia . before the exhaust exits ! do you think this will help a little to quiet it down ?

i was thinkin about injection any idea what volume of water i do have an xtra pump outlet not being used

you might try some kind of smaller water box like the seadoo hx and put it in the cavity underneath the battery box or in front of the motor. The seadoo hx is a real skinny waterbox. I did notice with dual cooling lines off my mag pump created too much water pressure in my water lines, causing head leaks, so I'd try to keep just one cooling line.

I snaged a 66e while I could. it is for a future build but I figured once people start riding skis with these motors they might be hard to come by. Already started lightly porting the cases.

66e gets my attention more than lamey...

Ride Maonles ski and tell me that you can get that kind of power out of a 62t based platform.........then the lameys will get my attention again. I am not saying I would want the kind of power that he is making, my lamey suits me fine, but when you see two motors side by side: 61x vs lamey you understand where the power comes from. Lamey vs 66e the difference is impressive. I believe that the 66e is 2mm more stroke than Maones boat.
