the fiberglass sheeting might be in the bathroom section. One side is smooth, however the other side is the texture of really, really cheap showers. I dont know if it will be listed as fiberglass sheeting, its not apparent as fiberglass until you break it in half, then you see all the fibers and what not. It runs about 3/16 in thickness, mabye an 1/8.

PM Idok, he found this stuff I believe.

I'll check in the bathroom stuff to see if they have anything. I can get Kydex from ebay, but just didn't know about the thickness. I've never actually touched any of this stuff, so I don't know how strong a 1/8" or 1/4" thick piece would be.

what does that help?

they dont list any kydex, in fact they dont list anything in sheets?

ACCBR,

if you have a flat table, cover it in wax paper, lay a sheet of fiberglass mat, soak it in resin, lay another, soak it in resin, lay another, soak it in resin, build up whatever size and thickness you need.

then cut to fit.

i thought they might have sold it... no need to be arrogant about it, and they don't list stuff in sheets because they sell it by the yard in either 38" or 50" inch widths

I didnt mean to be arrogant, I looked all over that site, and didnt see anything that would be useful..

other than cloth and resin.

and you dont sell sheet goods by the yard.

goto Lowes and try and buy 2 yds of plywood and see what kind of look you get!

the fiberglass stuff is at depot in the bath section...comes in 4x8 sheets, I think 28 bucks...........

WAB also used the plastic screen that goes over large flourescent light fixtures, ,then glassed it.......very strong as well...

how much prep did it require for the epoxy resin to stick to it well?

just rough it up?

they might, I just didnt see it listed on the website. Someone should call them and ask, they could probably provide some valuable insight to a substitute product.

from what I recall about yamasluts mod though, it wasnt cheap ( except for him thru work)

the other options are likely cheaper anyway

I've found sheets of Kydex on ebay. It's not that expensive. I'll see if they have some that's about 3mm thick. I know I could make my own fiberglass sheet, but it too cold right now to work with epoxy in the garage. I figured I could get started with this stuff, and liquid nails shouldn't smell too bad in the house. Kydex may be the way to go since I can get it in smaller sheets than 4 x 8. I saw the light fixture covers at Lowe's, and was gonna ask about them. I didn't know if the epoxy resin would warp them alot as it heated up. I think they're made of Styrene(spelling????) plastic.

yup..just roughed it up a bit...just makes ure to give the liquid nails (if thats what youre using) ample time to cure....

the first time I did it I gave it a week, then rode with it still soft...it broke in 5 minutes...

then I borrowed a hood from slutty, redid it..let it sit a MONTH and it was rock solid...

fyi, kynex isnt fiberglass based. Its a plastic with great impact resistance. thought i would mention that since you were talking about uscomposites.
