kx 250f went bang.... also minor arm carnage

this was the last ride on my 250f before we were putting a piston/valves in it.

long story short i came out of a turn, hit a double in 2nd shifted to third in the air took it to the rev limiter.... when she hit the rev limiter it made some god awful banging noises, stopping the rear wheel and throwing me over the bars into the face of a triple. if it were 30 feet farther it would have blown up in the face of a jump:banghead:.

i dont know if i should say if you were lucky or not , lucky it didnt happen on the jump face unlucky it let go in the first place .
gald you walked away from it tho . so how bad is the damage is the head and cylinder trashed

Glad you weren't hurt any worse. Parts are easy to replace, that's just metal and all. YOUR parts can be a lot harder to fix!

i just bought a whole complete engine off of ebay and dropped it in my bike. best decision i ever made. ive been parting out the old, blown-up motor (including that pic of the head) for quite a few dollars that have paid for about half the cost of the new motor by now ... well.. almost half... :icon16: ... point is, i was back on the track 2 weekends after i blew my motor. :wavey:

Yeah, i know the feeling. My 08 honda 450 just went boom. Had to get a whole valve job done. I guess thats what i get for logging close to 80 hours on a 08! (Yes, it has a hour meter, not a guess!) I got it back from my mechanic, good as new!! New bikes before Lorettas though!

if you are going to re chrome the cylinder and you have to get a new piston have you thought about a big bore kit . bigger piston and bore and crome to suit.
ive got the athena kit in my wr and love it
