Custom/Hybrid KRASH Industries JB-1 (Thrust innovations built)

Location

From half way around the world Nick Barton flew in for the Daytona Freeride weekend to let everyone demo his KRASH JB-1 surf ski built by Brian at Thrust Innovations here in Florida. This JB-1 was built for surf and honestly impressed me in every aspect. These hulls being so foreign and new have not gotten any real exposure until now! Nick also took a lot of his time to explain these hulls and how they originated. These are hand built by him.... a pro surf rider !

some quick details about the JB-1:

Nose rocker with double stepped transition (water deflection)
fully adjustable footholds that slide on a rail the full length of tray
full height gunwales great for loading unlike super low or swooped rails
accepts kawasaki or yamaha driveline (optional motor placement forward too)
all mounts layed in the middle of glass layup (fully infused)
Bondline completely filled for reinforcement
foamed tray for strength and flotation!
Hood utilizes extra tall lip that holds it very snug for side bashing from barrel rolls
75lb. carbon/kevlar layup----100lb. full glass layup (with hood, turf, tubbies and footholds) !!
extra wide rear tray and full length
extra wide bond rail in front half over where the tubbies are placed
big front sponsons that are removable similar to Destroyers design but sharper more contoured leading edge and all the way to nose
*straight bondline with slight curve near nose. Much better for tracking vs. serious rockered bondline which yanks hard turns in the face of a wave :(
bigger intake cavity to pump with depression similar to SXR
Optional and removeable surfboard style fins on bond rail (these act like pivots centered between pump intake and exit nozzle)
Fully infused layup with alternating biax layup from 90* to 45* to 90* etc to create strength in every direction of flex. and baked after initial layup to de-gas fully!
Unique vinyl wrapped graphics and urethane clear coat on top

yes! im a surf snob and super picky. it had no surprises but felt very dialed and nimble. it looks a lot bigger in pics than it is in person which was nice. id love to ramble on and on about it but ill let others chime in on what they thought

where are you guys ridding at? the waves look a lot like what its like in west Michigan where i ride at. pretty big waves but not much of a gap in between them.

I look forward to putting sometime on this hull... Hope to have a write up in a week or two with my opinion ... Should be fun to compare with my current surf setup..
