is a js 550 pump and prop interchangable with an sx 550???? i just got an sx and i wanted to put one of my extra pump and 15.5 skat trac's for my 89 js race ski in the 91 sx 550 thanks panman

No those two pumps aren't interchangeable. The later SX models have a different spline than the earlier JS pumps. The SX spline is much finer with many more teeth on it. The driveshafts are also completely different and cannot be interchanged on the two. The only parts that can be swapped on the pumps are the exit nozzle and the pump shoe.... everything else is different.

cool thanks for the info.... do you know what the stock impellar pitch is by chance? well??? are the props the the same thread?(js vs sx) cause the drive shaft goes in to the pump? and the prop threads on to the pump? if so i can take an sx vein/ shaft assem. and attach it to my polished nozzel and shoe with a js skat trak right???

I can't say for sure what the pitch of the stock SX impeller is, but I know the stock JS impeller is 16*. I do seem to remember that the SX came with an aluminum 17* impeller. Apparently their pitch measurements aren't very accurate either.
The impellers for the SX and JS pumps are also completely different. The JS impeller goes on with a reverse thread where the SX threads on with a normal thread.
Unfortunately I think you are out of luck.
