SX/SXi/SXi Pro kawasaki

why is everyone on this site anti kawaski, every sj i rode feels awkward and it feels like it has torque steer, left left right right, yamaha does have great engineering as i have a gp 1200 r that has done right by me but i still am a JETSKI fan , I have been to the world finals , the only jet jam in la and been riding before sitdowns ruined the industry, I have a dear friend who can make anything fast who lives in lambertville nj and custom builds boats that win races consistently and we are kawasaki guys, someone let me ride a yamaha thats fast , comfortable and reliable that doesnt have torque steer and ill convert

You need to understand that this site is a sub genre of standup PWC, which is a small group to begin with. The Superjet is better suited for what people here want to do. Its more difficult to get low speed thrust and throttle response from a Kawasaki. Those two things are a big deal when you are playing around with waves or trying to do roll.

not everyone... I still love my kawis. don't get me wrong, we also have several sj's and will agree that they make a better freestyle boat... but low speed thrust and throttle response are two things my kawi DOES NOT lack.

It's because you have everything backwards on this site. You are all about racing, this site is all about freestyle/freeride. Sure kawis are good on the buoys but take them into the surf or jumping wakes, the SJ will run circles around the sxr. Biggest issue is weight, SJ is a lot lighter and the hull is more formed for freestyle the the kawi. Your not really comparing apples to apples, just because there both stand ups doesn't mean they both should do the same thing.

not sure about the other guy... but I wasn't talking about my sxr. Yes the sxr handles very well but it is very heavy(not my favorite ski! lol). I was however talking about hitting waves with my sxi. Been riding 750's since they hit the scene and I'm aware that some people just can't get comfortable on them, but when it comes to hittin waves I have no issues with it... still love it.

and yes, it is a retired race set-up but I don't race. I'm not into racing... haven't been since the late 90's, was always more interested in freestyle/freeride.

the kawi 300sx hull is a good shape....good enough for a BOB
I own both and at the moment the kawi wins hands down, only because of the mods on the kawi and the lack of mods on the sj. The sj also came stock with an engine that has better low end power so that already puts it ahead of kawi for freestyle, which this site caters to. I just don't see many racers hare or anywhere so that will sway the posts too.

my 650 SN did better than my 750sx
I bought the SN as a backup ski and it is all I ride!

Thanks for all your input but I like to ride at high speeds and usually ride with sitdowns and try to keep up with them which isnt easy . I wish i had the cash to build a high speed boat , wish a stand up would do 70.I have had a 550, ,650, 3 750s and i do agree that the sj is a great boat but i feel like they pull right and left and i could never get used to it.I love riding and been riding since standups since 1989.i have really never really had the chance to spend time on a yamaha sj , i guess im loyal to kawasaki because that where i started, I absolutely love riding and feel like god is with us as we ride among a school of porpoises of the jersey shore, it is just an awesome feeling and yes i have blown up many skis due to agressive riding but since i met the mad scientist of lambertville nj , life is good.I have a gp 1200r that i bought to bring guests but im getting older and the stand up really kicks me in the ass for a couple day after riding, i want to get a fast three seater for my twin boys so i can take them with me. This sport is tough on the wallet between fuel and keeping up with technology is tough for a working man , to all please ride safe and most all have fun and help other riders and boaters , i always have and it pays off , bring on the waves

I really like kawi's,.... all I have ridden since the late 80's,..(off and on) I have had many 550's over the years, and ridden a few sj's. I just can not get used to the way a sj handles. I really like the handling of the 550 hull, but I guess that is because it is what I am used to. I will agree there is definately a lack of power in the 550 compared to the sj. I have not ridden an fx1, but I hear they are alot like the 550 hull but the power of the sj. That I would really like to try out. Till then, I'm still happy on my kawi.

i dont race at all , just recreational riding but i love speed, high speed is my thing although my boat is tough to ride in the waves , ia m 260 and my sx just wants to pull the front end out of the water and you fight it trying to jump, i put a pump wedge in but i think im going to but an sxr and make it really fast , kehin 42 are the best , my sx wlks all over a stock sxr , but hey , if i run into cash harry klemm is going to do my boat, what a gentleman in az that will make anything fast , but also personally answers the phone , he is a credit to our addiction

a lot of guys at the cove in brigantine swear by the fx1 hull but im not sold , the 550 handle like s....,i am torn about a newer boat , yamahas are sweet but its hard to get used to after growing up riding a kawi

i am new to this site and really trying to get the hang of it so please bare with me, i appreciate your input , i dont race at all but i love to ride at high speeds , stock boats suck , i want to do 70 on a standup, any one got one ?

There have been standups clocked above 70. Check into 951, 1100, 1200 conversions.

I think that this was uncalled for,... you came on here asking why people were anti one particular brand of boat,... but then you come off as anti 550,.... seems a bit hypocritical don't ya think

i am far from a hypocrite, i have grown out of the 550 hull event hough i have one , im a bigger guy , the 550 is old hat no disrespect, give me a boat and ill ride it
