300/440/550 Kawasaki JETMATE .. ??????

gotcha. hmmm, well.... pay for my airfare, beer, food, beer, lodging, beer, and beer and we can discuss compensation. :fing02:

hehe

seriously, if you still have the old stator, why not just bolt it back up to the new motor and existing box?

btw, i have two mates. one came w/ a blown 650. i replaced it with a different 650 with different wiring, then ulimately a 750.

the other came with a tired single carb 750 (which eventually got rebuilt and used in the first jetmate... see above). now it has a dual carb 750 from a kawi SS.

i have never worked on a jetmate....but i'm rather handy when it come to getting stuff fixed....and i live about 35 min south of chicago.....i'm not real fermilar with kaw stuff.....but hey i'll try to help ya out

sflsurfrider already answered this one but I was asked about complications of bolting in a 750 .. well its pretty straight forward ,, Iused the electronics box from a 750sx .. redrilled a hole so that two bolts hold it on where the original 650 box was .. well had a clearance issue so i chopped and dropped the bracket a few inches ( yea running premix so got rid of that oil tank) I am alos running dual carbs so another clearance issue on the flame arrestors .. Ihave two kehien carb adapters and will be running a dual K&N flame arrestor .I am also using the heat / exhaust temp sensor .. and not usingthe other jetmate safteys like the thether and nuetral switch ..dont need them I hope ! i will be running a bilge switch and mostliky a flotaer bilge switch for whan I am not there ,, will keep the boat tarped so it dosnt literally turn into a bath tub ,, also going to put on a nice fresh scat trac impeller since it has a bit more power than teh 650 .. plus my orig is badly dinged up ..

i kept the stock 750 f/a and did a little cutting..... these damn keihins are tempermental when it comes to popoff/restriction changes.

lol I think I like the idea of going to florida better. Canada is a possibility, except for I don't have a passport. Do you think that they would take a birth certificate instead? I'm serious, I just want my jet mate running like 2 years ago. And yes the dealer that I took it to was very incompitant, but it's the closest one I could find that wasn't 200 miles away.

you dont need a pasport to enter Canada .. i just use my birth cirtificate and photo licence ID to go accross intoi the US and back no problems ..

sfl .. did you justhave to cut the jetmate cover area or also lower the flame arrestor some ? if It doesnt run right with the k&n .. I will do the same ..

the only cutting i did was to the engine cowling. i used an angle grinder with a sanding disk. everything will fit, even without cutting, but the rubber "pig noses" get squeezed by the opening.

i didnt have to cut down the f/a at all. just bolted it right on. it doesnt hit the hatch at all.

hey SFL .. well no way mine would fit without cutting .. strange I guess something is lining up slightly different ,,, anyways had it out at the cottage ..after i bolted on the newer pump and scat trac #6 out of a stand up I had .. mint impeller and nice pump guess I didnt silicone it properly it cavitates like hell ! .. I did a quickie silicone .. half under the dock .. anyways good enogh to ride .. but I am going to pull the pump and properly clean teh old silicone off and then reinstall properly and reseal it all in and add a scoop grate .. it needs to hook up better ,, all I got out of it was 31.8MPH on the GPS may get a few more mph after it hooks up properly ,,
seats are getting recovers a light grey .. the guy up atteh cottage didnt have a nice red so i went with the sort of greyish .. should look nice ,,
you asked how I intented to store it ? well for now a 4 by 8 sheet of plywood with a tarp and the bilge hooked up with a flat just in case ...

a 16* impeller will cavitate like stupid with the 750, ive found.

call impros and let him know you got a 750 jetmate. you can even have him re-pitch your existing impeller. apparently, i was the 750 jetmate guinea pig, but my impros-impellered 750 jm SCREAMS!

who is impros ? I am up here in Canada ,, are you saying a scat trac# 6 is a 16 pitch ?
what should I be running ? you think a stock 650 alluminum impeller would be better untill I get the right one in ? damn I figured this one would be perfect .. ah well

so what do you think your 750 jetmate does mph wise ? have you ever had a GPS out ? I had mine only up tp 31.8 with myself and my son in it .. but cant get out of the hole worth ******** with the cavitation and I am sure to get at least 2-3 mph more .. maybe even 5-6 or more with the right prop and no caviatiaon ,,

yes, a skat 6 is a straight 16. its a great all around impeller for the 650. the stocker will probably be worse.

we gps'ed the dual carb JM at 36.8 or something around there. the single carb JM runs about 33.5ish.

low end prop pitch is more crucial on these because theres so much resistance, due to the size and weight of the JM vs a 300lbs standup with the same driveline.

www.impros.com is the website. grab the number from it and call and ask for david. tell him charlie in florida sent you. his pricing is very reasonable for what he does, and what you get far surpasses your expectations.
i have to send my other JM impeller to him for tuning.

i have a hooker (his new line of custom impellers) prop for my SJ coming to me too.

thanks SFL . I will contact them .. I do still feel if i pull the pump cleanit all up and resael it in properly it may solve my problems .. I ll have to wait untillI get back up to the cottage as the boat is now left up there ,,

ok as for curtains .. read this thread at pwc

http://www.pwctoday.com/showthread.php?t=167410&page=3

ok we knew thatthe jetmate had a different stator .. itseems your x2 or sx engine that has a different stator will NOT be compatable with the jetmate electronics box .. so may have to change the cdi reg etc .. Like sfl and I had suggested just slap in a box from a 650sx and you should be running .. all you would have to do is connectthe stator from your running engine and your start stop swicth from the jetmate in .. by passing all the other "safes " like tether / neutral switch etc .. unless you can stil use or repair your old jetmate stator ...

Jetmate

I have 2 jetmates one 89 and one 91, and have had four before these. The motor is the same in every aspect as the other 650's (ie x2,sx,sc) except for the flywheel and charging system. It is different due to the fact it must charge a larger battery for the the blower and sump pump. The coil and pickup is also different obviously. You can use a 650sx motor but u must use a jetmate flywheel and components(careful pulling the flywheel, some people damage things)! Good luck usually only dealer item only. I just found another jetmate on CL for $100 with the original motor(flywheel) but it needs much work. I might part it. Ive tried 750 motors and they do a good job, but still run into a charging issue as they dont put out enough to keep the marine batt charged. You can just go w/o the blower and use a smaller batt for a 750 ski. Im thinking of suffing a tripple in the next one but that will take mad pump and glass mods. The hull holds it back as far as speed, they just werent designed for anything over 35 and start getting squirrelly! Hope this helped.

who runs the blower and bilge pump full time anyway? dual bilge pumps get more use in a standup vs a bilge pump and blower in a jetmate. therefore, i say BS to NEEDING a better charging system for the purpose of running additional equipment.

as far as charging a larger marine battery, again, you can use a regular jet ski clb-16 battery and be just fine. i run a larger battery in one of my mates and it has no problem with staying charged.

the one with the blower, bilge pump AND nav lights has zero issues with charging.... even with keeping everything on for ridiculusly extended amounts of time.

the key here is to not buy wal-mart batteries.

I have to agree with SFL .. I feel any 650 or 750 system should be fine for charging ..
you realy just need to run the blower a few minutes before start up just in casee of fumes .. I dont even have mine working yet orig one was seized not realy a huge concern to me my lines arnt leaking .. plus I run dual bilges in my x2 and battery is fine .. remember if your not runnning every thing all at once your charging system can catch up // unless you excesively runevery thing all the time .. you can always run a trickle charger once in a while if it is a concern .. and oooppps I cheaped out and am running a $29 on sale ( ok roll back pricing) lawn tractor wally battery .. almost twice the size of a ski battery but so far all is good .. just had my seats recovered they are ready to be picked up :)

I m starting to think u guys r right, cause 2 of my jms didnt have the blowers running and were fine, guess its just a factory built concern. Im seriuosly looking into the 1100 tripple install but dont know if I could get away with the stock pump. Have a blueprinted and ported pump off my old 650 sx. Why not right. My power hungry neighbors have joked about a marine 4.3 chevy motor, and despite the weight concerns it sounds intersetin. We have a full body shop and machine shop and Im a custom welder so we got that covered, plus many years of watercraft racing. Seems like it would be cool for the "What The Hell Factor". What do you think?

well I had my jetmate out all weekend ( on the water overtime with all of us driving it ) it ran great ,, I re-sealed the pump in and had to shim the rear of the pump to get it to sit flat with the bottom of the hull . still "slight " cavitaion with 2-3 in it almost none with 1 person but gets bad the heavier the load in the boat .. maybe the 750 dual carb with the scat track is tooo much power .. you can turn and get it to hook up with 4 in it though and the boat runs realy fast or seems fast with even four in it .. BUT this boat isnt about speed ... its just a damn pefect cottage boat .. we swam off it pulled a tube and just cruised the lake . great STABL boat .. yup a wet rid if you hit the waves at an angle but at 30C we were happy to get wet .. hot weekend pefect chance to test out the boat :) Kids loved it as well put in a light grey seat covering not as much noce contrast as the red but cooler in the sun :)
