Kaw 650 standup questions

I keep saying no more projects but here we go agian:biggrin: My son orginally wanted to build a 760 standup but we couldn't seem to find any hulls around here then he decide he would drop the engine in a wavejammer (couldn't talk him into a blaster) well today I got a Kaw 650 standup bare hull and going to try to convince him to use that.
My skis are Yamaha's and the skis I part are pretty much are all seadoos so I need to ask so basic question for this Kaw.

1)kaw 650 standup what is normal pump size? what is Max?
2)how much eninge is enough for this hull? how much is to much?
3)any down side to droping a yamaha 760 or seadoo 720 in that hull?

Creative RE Purchasing
1) Pump size is 140 MM, expensive as hell you might be able to custom convert it to a Magnum 144mm
2) 650 for a starter would be good, or you could find a 750 engine or even a 650 to 800 conversion from PJS
3) Too much custom modification to be worth it. Just find a square nose superjet hull. wait a little and you'll find one.

^^ What oxnard said. I find the 650 not very enjoyable to ride. I would prefer the 550 hull...put a 760 in that!

Fix it cheap, or sell it and stick with Superjets. Its just not worth dumping loads of cash into those hulls, you need a better platform to start with.

i got just about everything you need to get that 650sx on the water. im about 2 hours south of you in fort lauderdale. PM me if you have any Q's.

Thanks for all the replys

sflsurfrider,
I may take you up on that, thanks

Crab,
being a single father of two ALL are toys are done on the cheap side of the budget :) I would have rather found the super jet hull but this is what I got so as long as he's happy with it that's what will do....I personally would rather him build this ski rather the the wavejammer

MattE,
you just don't like that hull design or are you reffering to the engine being to small?

oxnard111,
ya all pumps are expensive but I happen to have a spare seadoo 140 I may try to fit it. the way you said it it sounds like he will want the bigger motor 750-800 so the 760 or the 720 would work ok power wise. this is just bare hull, hood and pole right now so I will proablly have to fabercate something anyway custom mounts etc are no problems I can make them just more worried he will not have enough power.
he has been riding for a few years this will just be his first build

a 750 motor in a 650 sx hull is pretty sweet. its a easy mod to do. mostly everything bolts in perfect. the only thing you would have to do is find a place for the electronics, and get yourself a 650 pipe. that ski will be plenty fast enough with a stock 750 motor in it. do a search on here or on pwct and you'll find all the info you need to get the job done. also if sflsurfrider doesn't have something you need drop me a pm cause i might have it.

I was referring to the hull. The 650 I rode actually had the dual carb 750 motor in it - I just didn't care for it.

Sorry Luke...:).

it not much to look at but figured I should post a pcture anyway

Matte,
Thanks I am like that I get one I like to ride and another I just can't stand at all , unfortunatly with my bad leg I can't ride standups anymore so it has been about 12 years since I was on a standup 550 (back when they where the new thing:) )

groaty,
well the Robby got home form school a little bit ago and he likes it so I am in biz:Banane01: I have to pick up some more hulls tonight and the guy says he has a Uhual full of engine parts as part of this deal going to wait and see this weekend what he has before going forward But after what was said I am thinking one of these power plants depending on what will cost me the least amount seadoo 720, yamaha 760 or Kaw 750

to make things easier drop the idea of a sea doo and yami powerplant. that would take a lot of work to fab up stuf to get those motors into a kawi 650sx hull, the kawi 750 is a direct bolt in.

well the catch is I already have them (yamaha/seadoo) the Kaw engine I would have to buy (back to the cheap budget thing). I see what larry has this weekend may still end up with a kaw engine never know
If I had to worry about getting the fab parts made I may think twice but I make all kinds of stuff in Aluminum and steel so the mounts and stuff would not bother me at all , just to give you a idea that I like the strange can't do projects :) the ski I am building for me is a HX with a yamaha 1200
