300/440/550 Just picked up my first stand up 300sx

Yesterday i picked up a 1990 kawi 300sx. The ski has a kerker pipe, mariner grate/rideplate, and a skat impeller. I was looking for a superjet but they all get snatched up quick and i couldnt pass it up for the price. It wasnt running and i could tell the guy had no clue on how to fix it, he said it sat for 2yrs so im thinking longer. My friend and i had it running in about 30 min, the owner somehow pulled the plug wire out of the electrical box. We fixed that, cleaned the plug, replaced the battery( had a lawnmower bat??) and it started up. Then we took it to a local lake and took it for a spin, however it didnt run as well with a load it kept bogging. With a little carb tuning i think it will be fine.

Do these skis use a lanyard or do they just turn in a circle?

Welcome to the X, Dentwizard! :wavey:
Your profile says you ride sitdowns and now you have a standup!
Look on the bright side- if you can ride a 300,
you can ride any other standup out there!:mischievous:
Have fun!!!

Thanks guys, Im gonna ride this and probably sell it shortly cause i still want a superjet. My wife thinks im nuts since we got our FX-SHO in May after having my 95 Raider 1100 for 2 years.

I'd pull the carb apart to clean and inspect if its been sitting for a while...you'll probably find it is all gunked up or needs a rebuild...

i picked up a blaster and it was doing the same thing. did not want to run under a load. i pulled the carb apart and the main jet was almost totally clogged. cleaned it really good and it runs great. it didn't need a rebuild, just a good cleaning.

welcome to the x and good luck on your seach for the all elusive superjet.:beerchug:
