SX/SXi/SXi Pro Just picked up a PRO.

Well, I just picked up a nice little PRO that has spent all it's life sitting on a dock of a multi million dollar home along side some couches and boats.
This thing got very little use, that OEM prop doesn't have a single mark on it and the hull barely has a scratch on the bottom other than from the dolly it was sitting on.

That's the good now for the bad.

Sitting out in the elements has faded the graphics (no big deal) and also has corroded some of the parts.
Carbs need to be rebuilt, ware ring replaced, starter might be toast and everything needs a good clean.

Cases and crank look absolutely virgin inside as well as the electrical stuff. It seams to compression but without the starter motor spinning (charging the battery right now) I can't check it.

So, what I know right now.
I need 2 carb rebuild kits plus some intake manifold gaskets.
A ware ring or complete pump (what a dumb design).
Starter motor.

or I part the sucker out and be done with it.

Yep, starter motor is toast.
It cranks over with a helpful tap of a hammer but the starter ain't happy.
Have to see if the one on my X2 will bolt up.

All in all it's a nice ski, just not sure what I should do with it.

I could fix it and ride or let any and all ride it.
Transplant the motor into my X2 and sell off the rest.
Part out as is or
Fix, clean and look for a new owner.

Anyone want to trade for a RN hull ?? :cool2:

Don't have any decent pictures yet (left my camera at work) but it's just a stock SXI PRO.

Sun faded here and there and some bubbled up paint to the motor, that's about it.

Sxi pro's can crave turns like crazy. :bigok:

That's kind of why I'm leaning to keeping this thing.
After all, it is in really good shape and I think with the right go-fast upgrades it could be a blast in the mangrove trails.

I can always sell it later on if I don't like it.

Now I need to read up on the mods. That stock pipe will be the first thing to go.

Once you pipe it, call Dave at Impros for a suggestion on a prop. People are gonna tell you to junk the handlepole, but if you are just going to run buoys
you'll be fine, once you get used to the weight of the pole. Get the head milled if you want to bump compression a bit without spending too much $$. A decent grate and a Worx Dominator plate(extended) will help keep the nose down, as Pros are really prone to porpoising.

I miss the handling aspects of my Kawi, if I ran across a deal I'd pick one up as a 3rd standup.

Pole will stay.
I still have a couple RN poles and like the stiff pole setup but on this one I will keep the spring.
Might be able to talk my wife into giving it a go so a floppy pole is a must.

Just replaced the motor mounts and starter (it's good to have spares) and cranked the sucker up.
No manifolds or reeds and I go a dead even 170 PSI per hole.
What was stock compression on these ?
Anyway, have spark, cranks strong so I should be a carb rebuild from fire. Sweet.:cheer2:

Now that I have it mostly sorted I want to pull the motor out for a good clean and a respray. Other that the dealer, where can I get some of that green engine paint?
Who sells block off plates for the case drain valve thingy ?
Who has the best deals on OEM gaskets ?
