jumping posture

Demon, are you talking about this... if so, I do it from time to time up here on lake erie because sometimes it's so damn windy it's the only way to keep from landing upside down. I'll use my feet to pick up the tail while in the air, then let it back down just before landing.

Although, now that I am "attempting" BFs, I might not need to do it as much... LOL  yeah, ok.... :1244:

btw... I've had the old nut sack slapped quite hard during a tail landing.

I believe he is talking about that. And I agree w/ him also. For style the straight legged, straight back and near parralel to the ski looks awesome.

if you are bending you knees to save a landing then no. I'm talking more about the ones where the person leaves the top of the wave knees slightly bent killing vertical movement by absorbing the mometum with there legs and making the hull go pretty flat.

thank you!

it was your avatar that I was thinking of but didn't want to call you out. Work on it. bend you knees before the jump and make them down as you hit the bottom of the wake and keep them straight. it will make you pop off the wake and get more air.

:arms:

BTW you arn't the only one who needs to work on this.

I think knees bent leads to bigger jumps, your ski pivots around the motor more or less so when you jump and bend your legs the back of the ski comes up higher, making it look like your jumping higher. Of course I am stuck to flat water and will take every inch I can get. In the surf sure, just point and shoot, more gas=more air not as much technique required to get the ski to come off the water

you are exactly wrong on that take... I will soar 10 ft above you on the same wave.... I guarantee it!

I use my legs to jump off the wave when I hit it, just like a ski jumper... (that's my anology I use all the time when teaching newby's)

In my mind I use the Snow skiing long jump as a model for how you should fly... What matters most is the position of your waist.. The waist needs to be right next to the pole, not all low and out of position... bending down will put your knees in a bad place, make the nose of the ski go up and most importantly... make you look like you are crapping a big load. Correct that stuff cause it's not right... Look at all the pros and good riders...

I'm just starting to do the look up/look back like you do in that no hander. it takes a lot of faith in your jumping skill and awareness in the air to look up like that.

that is exactly what I work on when riding. no short cuts. if I'm doing can cans that day I'm working on full extention of the legs straight out. bent knees are cockroach.

most tricks (not inverted) start with a straight legged jump
