hey guys, im your local post whore from GH and PWC....

i was told that this is the place to get all your stand up questions answered!...:Banane25:

to start off ill say this.... I ride the hell outta my JS550....I nose dive, ride wheelies, do 180/360s, etc....

i was out doing my usual 2 hour ride after work. After riding for a lil over an hour i was doing some 180s and noticed that ski felt a little sluggish after coming out the hole. And at top end you could feel it lagging a lil and would chug here n there.

So i took it into shore to check for maybe excessive water in hull and/or low fuel. No water in hull and little over half tank, so ok there. Figured id take it back out for another test run, and she wouldNT fire...only turn over and over.....

Compression is 151 psi PTO side and 155 psi mag side

You can smell that its getting fuel

but plugs dont have one bit of spark...

any help/advice would help greatly

i removed stator cover to see if stator got dirt or sand in it, but was dry/clean as a bone

i replaced plugs, even tho they were pretty much new

installed new larger engine ground.

inspected brain box....was clean and fuse wasnt blown

next is to check Coil/wires with OHM meter i suppose...??

You pulled the flywheel and looked at the stator. You'll see 2 coils on the stator.

Measure the resistance across the coils.

No need to remove, just remember what the stator looked like.

Use the wiring diagram I posted to tell which wires to test. I posted for years up to 1988, but I think it's the same for 1993. Follow the wires from the engine to the ebox and test at the ebox connector.

the old CDI tapped into a relay but the new one wasnt setup for it...so i had to do lil wiring but i got it just like it was to start...

theres the one short black wire that didnt go to anything and was cut off the 1st one, so i know it will work without it...

i woulda taken detailed pictures had i known it wasnt gonna work

What readings did you get from the stator?
well im not to sure how to use OHM meter so i left it in my hands of my friend

he said he wasnt get any ready, but im not to sure he knew what he was doing...

can you give me a step by step on what/how to check stator again? ill pull fuel tank and cover to get to it again.

Then isnt the stator covered by the mag cup???

Hey pal, did you ever figure out what the issue was with your ski? Mine seems to be having the same issue. I was thinking it was either the "ignitor" or the "relay". What was the key to fixing yours?

mine was the stator....

is yours a JS or JS SX version?

Mine is a 1990 JS440 hull with a JS550 engine (non reed - not sure exactly what year). Is there a series of tests that can be performed to narrow it down before I go out and spend all kinds of money replacing hard to find parts?

Thank in advance for the help!

did you lose all spark?
Sounds exactly like what you were explaining. I will get a strong spark from both plugs - but only once on the first crank. If I go to crank it a 2nd, 3rd, 4th time I get nothing. Then once it sits a while I can get it to spark once more on the first crank...after that - nothing.
