Josh's 97 RN Surf Boat Build

I bought this SJ back in Aug. 08. Ski was set up for racing, etc. B Pipe, Dual 48 buckshots, Cool head, Jet trim mat kit, umi pole.

I put footholds & turfed it, short turn plate, d ride plate & beat the piss out of it until now. The hull started to crack so its time to reinforce.

List of things to do,

#.0 Tubbies
reinforce hull
Shorten pole 2 in.
New Hood & low pole mount
New Paint
New Turf & 25mm pad

Here's some pictures of the hull with everything removed. Hull with no turf, only a steering cable, footholds, weights 101 lbs.

I installed the tubbies & now it weights 107 lbs.

Will check weight again tomorrow with the carbon re inforcement.

Carbon re inforcement. I used 11 oz carbon 1 layer & 3-1 epoxy. I'm also using 2 in carbon tape under the rails. I still have to do the nose & pole area. Should have it back together next week. Not sure what hood kit to buy yet.

Thanks Guys. Pete Told me how to lay it up, Also Flash FX had great tips.

I wasn't sure how it was going to come out, but over all I'm happy & learned a lot about working with Carbon. I'm going to order some 5.7oz to play with. The 11 oz I think is harder to bend & make corners.

Got my WDK hood today. Looks great, weights a little more than I thought it would, list on here said 12lbs, scale said 14lbs (UPS shipping scale). Got all the carbon work done, all the holes are filled. Going to paint it this week. Should be back together is 2 wks.

Few more PICS with a better Camera. I love the lines on this hood, Jeff really did a great job. Plan on doing the final sanding tomorrow. Just have to pick some colors now.

Thanks Shane, I hope to have it back together soon. Then I can start thinking about a new motor build. Going to be hard to go back to a 701 motor!

Got the top painted today. Will have better PICS tomorrow, these are off my phone during the 2nd coat of clear . I went with a White Pearl with silver/gold dust, & black with some pearl, 4 coats of clear!. Better PICS tomorrow out in the sun. The white looks sick in the sun.

I wish I was going, but I didn't get this ski back together. Should look good with some x metal stickers. Thinking about building a Xscream 827cc stock stroke motor for this ski.

Got the bottom painted last night. Top is buffed & looks killer, going to buff the bottom tomorrow. Going to tap my pump today for dual cooling & my B pipe manifold.
