jetting Q

i need a little help on dialing my sxr in. i have been busy all summer and i am just getting the time to get it set up.

83mm bore with minor porting
185psi compression
6 degree timing advance
dry pipe
taper bored 46mm mikunis
v force 2's with r&d intake mani

jets are 110 mains 125 lows
23psi pop off

my problem is when i cruise the boat at say anywhere from 3/16 to 1/2 throttle the boat loads up pretty bad and blubbers like a school girl trying to chug a beer. on topend wide open runs the plugs are golden brown. i have tried leaning out the low speed both with changing jets and playing with the screws....randy from watcon suggested that my high speeds are to big and they are dumping fuel in when cruising. but i tried leaning the highs out and still nothing has really helped. (although i have not put much time into this yet). also i have no clue why it would make a difference but the loading up/blubbering is worse when it has a full tank of fuel....when the ski gets below half tank it runs better. tomorrow i am gonna try some more jetting combos because i have some time. anyone have any alternate starting jetting specs? someone a while ago suggested something like a 130 high and maybe a 105 or so low? thanks

I forgot!
maybe when your fuel gets low you start getting air in the lines and it leans out. my ski does it. I lowered my mains and it cleaned it up. just do it in little steps.

also i can idle it around for as long as i want and it i crack it, it is crisp right off bottom. i am gonna go ride it now and try somethings but i am still very open to suggestions

buy a superjet?

why even waste my time? i mean honestly. i have ridden superjets, never ever ever ever ever will you see me on one. how about you stop being a waste of space and go buy a kawi......or how about you start giving out some useful information......oh wait you can't cause you are one of those fools who hopped on the stupidjet bandwagon, and just bases their whole jet ski riding experience and knowledge off of the opinions of others.

Haha. Looks like I struck a nerve.

Stock Kawi weight 350.
Stock SJ 291. Hmm that's 50+ less pounds to push around, I wonder which one will launch higher? I've ridden SXR's that have way more mods than yours, and they are cool, but they are still heavy/nose heavy, and you can't ignore the fact that they like to plow waves/wakes rather than roll up over them. Kawi's are still much better for everything.

I guess since I own a Superjet, that means I can't adjust carbs either? As far as experience goes, I have ridden different levels Yamaha and Kawi, and I picked the Yamaha because I liked it better. I guess that doesn't give me any riding experience?

Lighten up dude.

Have you tried reading the SBN manual? Maybe you need to add an anti siphon valve? Check it out, it is on the last page. http://www.mikuni.com/pdf/sbn_manual.pdf Your situation does not exactly match what they say there, but it would be worth a try. Also they go over what to adjust for each throttle position. In the TP you are describing, it does sound like your main jet. Good Luck

haha in no way was i serious.... my reply was just a big sarcastic ball busting, you gotta ride mine someday the 3.5" shortened hull makes one hell of a difference in the nose plowing department. i still have yet to tune the thing....by the time i get out of work there is a thunderstorm every day. maybe with some luck tomorrow i will be on the water.

That hull has to feel a lot better being shorter. We will have to trade ski's someday. How far is Harvey's away from Hershey?

It was hard to read the sarcasm in you post haha.

KX: From what you describe, your main jet seems to be too fat.
Drop it down a size or two and see how it reacts.
Alternatively, close your high speed screws by one turn and see if it gets better.

you may just want to sell that under powered waste of fiberglass

94-2008 701 SuperJet.
90-93 650's are a fine hull but the 650 motor is a turd.

they are all turds if you ask me

just buy a kawi

i love making fun of yamahas, the internet would be lame without it, not making trouble, its called having fun. and i am pretty sure you blue bloods try to bust on us green guys a lot more than we bust you....

why dont you just buy a kawi?

convert it to a kawi

Dish it out, expect it back.
