Not really, just a bit of history........... people need to hear both sides... I really wont deal with him, but not saying for others not too......... He has plenty of good and happy customers....... Happy for him...
Like I have said before, he does have some really good ideas, he is very maticulous in his work.... I just do not like how he deals with customers when there is a problem.......... guess the odds have been on his side.... Plus, I dont think he is doing the carb mods anymore..... That is where most of the complaints have come from.

One thing I dont understand, of all the Lanier / Riot Rides...... He has never shown up.......... This counts the big rides and the smaller rides...... I dont think he has been there in 3 years. He lives 2 miles away.

he came to the first few we had, but his personal comiments on weekends keep him from attending......he wants to be there.......but on the other hand at this years riot ride he put together hundreds of dollars worth of stuff to be givin out....other than the sealed battery no one knew.....why......becauce his stuff was just thrown in the air, not handed out....made me sick when i saw that, so i wouldnt blame him if he never gave another thing out, i know i wont.

Please explain the 'stuff was just thrown in the air'? What happened?

I can take a guess. My shop is pretty big in the Toyota MR2 world. We are asked about 20 times a year to sponser events with give-aways. I do support the bigger meets, but have learned from my mistakes. In the past we would raffle a part away...seems like everytime the winner with a non-turbo car won a turbo part, or a guy with a 1.6 liter won a part for a 2.0 liter (for non Toyota guys, it's like winning a set of squarenose hydro-turf for you roundnose). So then you get to see people almost throw your part on the ground, or sell it to a friend for $5...kinda depressing. So now we sponser with gift certificates and t-shirts now. It gives people flexibility to chose.

he gave me a box of parts for the give away and when it was time for them to be givin away, mcdrunkoffmyass didnt know what they were....so he took the box of parts and tossed them into the crowd like so much confetti. now if i had taken the time and the money to put togherther a box of parts for a give away, i would hope to be treated a little better than that.

I don't remember that at all, and I won 2 JSS 'prizes'. One was a stainless something or other, I really have no idea what it was, and the other was a starter rebuild kit.

I appreciate him sending the stuff, but honestly, those are items that are so specialized and most people will never use, they're just not raffle-prize-worthy IMO.

A gift certificate or t-shirt works much better. I learned that after doing the very first Freestylefest where we had giveaways.

When was the last time this occured?

I get the feeling some folks are getting hung up on stuff that is years old and has been fixed.

Maybe John could donate "One Free Stator Rebuild" or "One Free Coil Rebuild" which could be used by all. These items aren't specific to Yamaha or Kawasaki. Either way, for someone to donate their time and money, it has to be worth something.

I like free stuff if it fits my ski or not. I got a stator screw kit from JSS that evening at Lanier all though my motor was already together and others could use them I gave them away to someone that could use them and they were very appreciative I received a couple drinks instead. I also got one of those freestyle fest metal skulls and gave that to some kid that had his eyes on it. Any give away item in my eyes is great and I would hate to tell sponsors what we want them to give away. IMHO

He was actually very helpful for my friend who got his carbs done.
It could NOT be jetted right and he kept having problems with it....could not figure it out. John replaced just the body of one of the carbs with another he had bored and it was fine after that. He said some carbs from some years don't work out with the taperboring for some reason.

i do think the little parts in the box were a bit much for those guys to deal with and it was late and they were pushed for time ,i just wished they could have handled it a little differntly thats all.

That may have been at the end when the park rangers had been telling us for 15 minutes to button it up. They were not happy about things at that point.

Yes I believe it was right after that. BTW were they park rangers or Nazi’s after that evening we swore we would never go back there after getting or site searched.

I've ordered bunches of stuff from him .All kinds of gaskets ,o-ring kits UMI tuff thrust kit and his battery stud kits ,primer fitting ,spark plugs ,ski grease and everything he has sent me is worth the money IMO and he always charges a very fair price for shipping and has never screwed up an order of mine .

It looks like to me like 3 people had a problem with his carb work and everyone else is 100% satisfied .

Digging up bones is right ,that thread is over 2 yrs old .let it rest .What do you got that stored in your favorites everytime a JSS thread pops up

Hey, everybody has the right to know when someone asks about a company, got to take the good with the bad.......

What are your views on Abe Hummel, Jeremy Parr and Matt Bol...........

I break stuff
I have always had good luck with JSS parts. His electrical work is great, umi rebuild steering (tuff thrust washer) is perfect, and he always has the right size orings and pipe couplers in stock.

Obviously well respected members of the PWC community and should be taken seriously .Looks like his carb work from 2 yrs ago had some tough times but others had good luck .Hit or miss I guess .

I think he probably learned from his mistakes because there are no recent complaints about carb work right
