Other Jetski Noob...first Ski X-2

Just wanted to introduce myself. As all of you were at one time, I am a noob to the hobby.

I have been looking to get a jetski for years. I have ridden sit down only seadoos a few times years ago but it always looked like the guys on the "real" ski's had all the fun. About a year ago I started researching on what type of jetski to buy but became discouraged when I noticed all the newer jetski’s had price tags way above what I was willing to spend. Then I discovered some of the vintage ski forums and noticed how certain old jetski’s could be upgraded and moded to perform nicely.

After reading some of the vintage ski forums I decided I wanted a Kawasaki X-2 because of there versatility and the large support market that seems to exist for this particular ski.

Well I finally found one locally that had a decent set of upgrades for sale locally by one your members (melmack i think).

It is a Kawasaki X-2 1989

Some of the upgrades
750 engine from a 92 750 SS.
42 kehin carb with stock head

After market exhaust
New SS impeller
Renthal bars
Automatic bilge pump
R&D intake grate.

Welcome. What part of Texas? The hull is also shortened a little.

Very nice..... You should look through the x-2 section on here and learn all about the different hull mods that can be done. You should start by cutting two inches off the back. That will greatlly improve handling. This is a great link and a ton off great info!

I just noticed the hull is shortened about an inch. I would take another inch off.

Yea I will probably cut another inch off after I get competent riding it in its current form.

I grew up south of San Marcos Texas but currently riside in Kyle Texas. My ski is stored at my parents place, about a 10 min drive from the ramp at lake dunlap.
