what about shocks then, how does an adjustable compare to regular

shocks only adjust damping, so they really are only necessary if once you have the jetski on the rack you find the handling of the jeep is not drivable (wont happen) then you can increase the damping on the shocks, but those rancho adjustable shocks, or most other cheap adjustable shocks are worthless.

Here are a few pics of my dual-purpose rack on my Xterra. It's a hitch mount mx rack and I attached 2x6 on the outside rails. It's rated for 400lbs and only cost about $150.
