It just SUNK!!!

The ski decided to see what was at the bottom of the lake Saturday.

Tow service provided by Missouri State Water Patrol.

No fears it is running now.

To do list:
Find and install New hood seal
patch pencil sized hole
search for any other potential leaks
Install Auomatic Bilge Pump.

Enjoy.....

From the looks of the pictures it looks like the foam did its job and the ski never sunk at all. It is scary the first time it happens though. Firts time I did it my buddy's where laughing there butts off on shore cus I was out there screaming for help trying to hold the ski up and for no reason because with the factory foam in there it wont sink.

I would also look for a water leak on your engine somewehre....a hose most likely is leaking.

Yep that was me, out there treading water hanging on to the nose pulling up and kicking like I was going to lift it or something. LOL

Then when I wore out, gave up and let it go, then it went verticle and I could here it burping. I didn't know if any of the 30 year old foam was still there. if any one had removed it, or if it just caught an air bubble. Definatly a slight pucker instance.

Yes I plan to check the water lines the next time beofre it leaves the trailer too. As fast as it happened I was sure a line busted. Everything appears to be intact though.

you might run it on the hose for a bit to see if anything leaks. you can get the stuff from lowes. just make sure you start the ski then turn on the hose other wise you are going to screw stuff up.

I think it was trying to commit ski suicide just let it go, there are a couple nice round nose skis in the for sale section and I think that 550 knows that.

Get the stuff to make a hose adapter from lowes?

yup. you know hook the hose up to the ski so you can run it out of the water for more than 20 seconds and check for water line leaks. actually screw that just do what mark said. it will probably be cheaper in the end.:haha::brap::brap:

My friends ski (550) did the same thing. When we swam it to shore we finally realized it was the exhaust hose after the water box. The hose clamp got loose and flooded the ski.Be sure to drain the e-box and let dry.We had alot of issues from the water corroding the connections

What hardware do I need to get for that?

Do I just put a T in one of the water lines?

Does somebody have a material list and instructions?

Yea I'm a newbie.... Told you guys if I joined it'd be a million questions.

I'm getting ready to go to town now, I'll ge the stuff if I can find what to get.

I don't remember the sizes you need. I got everything I needed from lowes. just stick the t in between the pump and the cylinders. make sure you start the ski before you turn the hose on. its a pretty easy deal you can't really mess it up. I think I ended up getting a barbed fitting that fit a hose over by the sprinklers. and stuck that into the T'ed water line.

pull the water line that comes from the pump just inside the hull. It should be the water line that goes into the exhaust manifold hook that to the hose so that water will run through the system. Shove the water hose on the end and put a hose clamp around it.

He says exhaust manifold, you say cylinders......

Which one do I hook it too?????? :scared:

Alright got it hooked up and ran it wit the garden hose today.... found out what happened.... Pisser valve hose busted.

Of all things..... It was a pain too, had to take the exhaust off just to get to the clamp..... to get the exhaust out I had to pull the engine...... all just to cut 1/4" off the end of a rubber line!!!!! #$%&^@#$R^&*^@#$%

Back together and running now with no leaks.....
