Freestyle Is my portjob ok?

i dont like where you ground it up so far and weakened that area just below where the gasket seals. case porting has a much lesser effect on power than cyl porting. i've got a superstock world finals winning 701 motor with very little case porting. i've seen them opened up like that but........

This is what "good" looks like...

EDIT: These were done by RIVA and were later clearanced to fit 760 cylinders.

Not sure who did OCD solutions cases but every set of xscream ported cases I've had are a work of art! Well worth the money when you are doing the rest of the package anyway.

No pictures on my phone of my xscream stuff but here is a jetworks 771.

i do mine exactly like riva or jetworks. it doesnt take very long to do them like that and thats all thats required. you took a hell of a lot of material off and a lot off the top. i was told by my local guru that you dont want it thin like that below the base gasket surface. you definatly gained crank case volume with that port work!

You have to fill them in because when you port them open real wide you actually take away so much case material you would be making a hole in the cases.

Instead they fill the void with epoxy so you have some material to port into.

Bolt a set of reeds in there and post up a picture showing the top reeds upened up to max. The reeds depict how much you take off the top. Kawi and Yami are a little different in this area.

you took quite a bit of material off... its really thing across the cylinder studs. the whole idea of case porting is to get flow from the reeds to the transfers in the cylinder so without the cylinder you really don't know what to do...

now you set the cylinder on the top case, turn it up side down and match the cylinder to flow with the cases. you will see the sleeve sticks down way far and out to the sides, which covers up a lot of what you just opened up.

Which will look a lot like this when you are done... (62T 760 Cylinder resleeved and ported by TLR).

as far as i've heard, and talked about with various figures, case porting doesnt "make" power. it is a motor response type deal. its gains are in the responsiveness of the motor. a tuned motor with case porting will be more brapppppbrapppp than the same without case work done to it. its about getting that F/A mix from the carbs and reeds into the cylinder on the smoothest path as possible. when you are pushing air at 4000+ft/s, the air likes to move the easiest way. case porting opens a riverbed for it to flow into the transfers.

DISCLAIMER: im a nub and this is far as i know.
