Other is it worth it

i have the oppurtunity to buy a 2003 superjet that needs a new top end for 2700$. the ski has a bpipe aftermarket girdled head 12/17 impeller umi steering plate foot holds and water box, forgot what kind. the motor is a 760 from a raider, but i can also get the 61x head with it as well as a trailer and some other odds and ends. what rare some opinions on this good deal or pass. the ski is pretty clean as well

A pretty much stock 2003 with B-pipe and head for $4,500? Not around here.
IMHO, at $2,700, you better be damn sure all it needs is a topend.

It has like... $1000 worth of extra parts on it. I'd personally rather buy a clean stocker and put the parts on it myself.

Footholds decrease the value of the ski.
Waterbox decreases the value of the ski.
760 motor decreases the value of the ski.
It's all the wrong :):):):).

However, most people would pay more money for that crap, and you have to compete with them.

how do you know it only needs top end? has motor been disassembled n inspected?

values vary greatly from state to state.

skis value $2000-2400

If im gonna be buying ski that not only needs hundreds in parts but also hours of my time to repair, then you know darn well it better be for a steal of price.

why try to save a buck buying someones mystery machine when you can buy a turn key boat for just a little more.......

Are you saying that $4500 is a high price? A clean 03 SJ with a pipe, steering, and footholds wouldnt last a week in AL.

As a sanity check on pricing, compile an approximate list of parts and see how much money could be made in parting it out. You have to be honest with yourself in what things are really worth and likely to sell for, and account for fees, shipping, materials, and your time. IMHO, the part out proceeds should always come in a bit higher than what the asking price for the complete ski is.
I doubt you could come anywhere near $4,500 in parts for that ski.
For that matter, it's questionable if you could get $2,700 in parts for it as it sits.

I'd be all over it at 2700.00!!! Like wakerider said, running, that's a 4500.00 ski all day long.
