Do you have to tear down the engine to set up a 750 for 650 electronics? I read that you have to have the cases apart to do the job properly and I don't want to go through that right now.
That depends on the year, early 750's just need to be drilled and can be done without teardown if carefull. I have some cases here to measure the depth if you need it.The front of the cases needs to be machined, it's best done with them apart.
Well I paid Group K years ago to do a 750 SS I used in a 650 SX. I sent them the cases first. Then Harry called and said he needed the stator to make sure he machined it right. So I sent him the stator.
If you ask me, I would have them machined. If you are going ot machine them, you need the crank out of the cases. I know a lot of people on here have dremeled them but I like my stator to stay intact. I would rather pay the money and have it done right by someone who knows how to do it rather than do a home job and ruin a set of cases... Cases are around 4-500 bucks!
Besides you got a machine shop hook up. All you need to rebuild your engine would be crank seals, gaskets, circlips, some threebond, and a little loctite.
