Back again,
i really do appreciate all the help, one day, ill be knowledgeable to pass it on...
I have an old piston port 550, converted into a reed valve. A original intake ports on the cylinder block have be blocked off. Sealed and shut with a block of metal. the crank has been cut too, and the reed valve intake system attached. It was a race mod back in the day apparently by goki.
my question is, since its been converted into a reed valve motor now, why does one of the pistons have ports?!?!??? Did some rookie/cheapo some where along the ownership timeline
A) install the wrong piston
B) Leave it because the ports function is obsolete, ie "no reason to change it because the ports on the original style piston, dont actually make any difference. because they dont get used in the process, because its now a reed valve engine and the ports dont, i repeat, DONT go down on the intake stroke low enough to be revealed.
C) its part of the overall modification of the engine and is used in the process.
Im going with A and or B because i dont think the ports are used........
would defeat the basic function and idea of the overall modification.
Id like to purchase the right piston for my 550 nightmare, there are two sets of numbers on each cylinder. I believe the longest one is the actual pistion size. ( these are the same, lucky me) but have different numbers on the above sets. for example, the piston port piston reads C0014 while the reed valve piston reads 7314K
what are these numbers? the design number or the model number of that particular piston?
thanks for your time
