Is a head kit a suggested upgrade?

Is a head kit a good upgrade or is it only necessary after doing some internal engine work? I would be using only 91 octane fuel, i dont know much about this upgrade, but when i was looking around they had options like 33cc 35cc 37cc, does this mean thats how much more displacement you get to your engine? so being a 701+37=739cc? also things like 170lbs and 185lbs, this being the compression inside the piston, and at 91 octane 185lbs is probably the highest you would want to run? so getting the 185lbs 37cc will most likely give me the most power, but will wear out the engine faster because of higher compression correct? Also i would need different spark plugs as well?

If someone can clear this up for me and let me know if its worth it, being i have a stock internal motor. I will do the pro, intake grate, pipe, and few other things before i would do the head.

thanks

Girdled Head Kits are excellent upgrades for both stock and ported internetal engines. Excellent gains across the throttle, look good, strong and help prevent cylinder cracking

Dome sizing(33ccs, 23ccs, etc) is the displacement of the dome size....its just how big they are and that determines how much compression you have. The smaller the dome size the less room the air has to compress in = higher compression

Yes, 180 is a good safe rating for 91-93 octane and performans well. Other have ran 190 on pump but be carefull with fuels and such.

180psi is the lowest compression you can get(on a aftermarket head) and will give you a nice power increase, but running 215psi will give you more snap and power but then your up into premium race fuels. Higher compression = more power

The lower your compression generally the longer your motor lasts. More compression puts more strain on cranks and other bearings. Generally you'll see people slap on heads alot and not really worry about it. I ran my head at 185 on a 10 year old crank....

185 is a good number...pump gas...reliable....not as hard on engine and good power

But yes, prop, and grate would come before ANY power gaining mods simply because the you cant use the power gains if your prop is just spinning. You CAN add a head first but I'd go with the pipe....its not just a power boost it amek your ski a whole new creature....the head just puts extra beatness into it

how would i make the right choice on the CC valume of the head? lets say i go with the 185lbs.

whats the stock head CC and stock pressure if you know of the top of your head?
