Intermittent spark, quick question.

Hey all new to the ski scene. I have a 91 650 superjet Im trying to troubleshoot with intermittent spark issue. Wondering if any could do a quick check or even more likely somebody will have this knowledge without checking.

When motoring the engine with the spark plugs out but still grounded (so you can see the sparks), if you keep the start button pushed and really quickly blip the stop switch, is it normal for that to stop the sparks even when motoring after bliping the kill switch? Thats what mine is doing every time, with two different CDI's.

I'm suspecting bad spark plugs leads but I don't think they would cause ignition to cease with a simple kill switch blip.

Thanks.

Yes completely normal for the spark to stop when you hit the stop button....even with lanyard still connected.....what is your actual. Problem with the ski

Thanks. The problem is very intermittent spark, if it does fire up it will likely only run for a few seconds before losing spark again. Jet ski was running fine for about 5 tanks of fuel then one day this started happening. Did some quick continuity checks on the S/S switch and cleaned up the connectors by the ebox. all seems good.

However I'm unable to get a resistance reading through the ignition coil from lead to lead, and have found that the strands in the leads are breaking very easily so I thinking I may be on the right track with replacing the leads if possible.
