Interest in Chirstmas Gifting?

Location

I am a member of a different forum and they are doing a Christmas Gifting Thread and thought it would be cool do here as well since I have quite a collection of parts I can part with :)
Would anyone else be interested in participating in this?

Maybe we can create a new main-thread under Misc and then users can post up new sub-threads for items they are offering up as gifts and people can reply to them if they need that item. if multiple people are interested in the same item their name can be put into a hat and the giftee would be chosen at random by a specific deadline by the gifter.

Example of Rules:

**This is a Christmas gifting Thread for giving gifts to those who need them.**

Rules: An Item offered is for those who need it.
Value of the item is open to the gifter.
All gifting is in open forum, no pm's unless to give personal info, shipping and Paypal info.
No requesting or asking for specific items.
Please receive 1 gift only,
Give as much as you want.

** shipping of the gift :

REMEMBER -- some of our hobby items can get heavy and may effect this cost of shipping.

post this in thread ie:

please pay shipping via Paypal, money order,
free shipping to cont. U.S.
free shipping to lower 48
Please pay shipping From my Location.
OR to be discussed between gifter and giftee
Tracking needed or required.

The gifts should be anything you are willing to part with or it even could be a store bought item; say for example a can of WD-40 :) who doesn't need a can of that!
Since this is more about giving then receiving, everyone is able to participate in being a giftee but the more people who participates in being the gifter the better for everyone.

why not run a gift exchange? give people 2 weeks to sign up, then pair each person with someone else, and each person ships something useful/handy/cool/ect (usually around the $25 range) to their paired person.

I've done this on other forums and its actually pretty cool

I kind of like this idea a little better...then it doesnt feel like we have a group of givers, and a group of just part takers. But im down for whatever...tis the season to give.

Belated christmas. Do this idea but do it as wrapped gifts exchanged in person at daytona. Makes a good meet and great. Also saves tons on shipping. You can buy riht at the event, gift bag and give.

You could also have people in a budget list. $5 list gets you things like a set of plugs, can of wd40. If you exchange pics of your ski, a $50 gift might be a set of nice annodized pissers and bilge outlet set. $15 gift might be a stainless tow loop.

Also post gifts up here while still at daytona if willing to trade, say you get dielectric grease and someone else gets anti sieze then you can swap gifts. Everyone else posts after the event.

I wont make it this year, but some thoughts. The parts idea is a great surprise if you see something in the want to buy section or sponsor a young rider or what not but i would feel greedy taking something and not giving something.

Actually, people coming together sponsoring a highschooler with used parts for christmas would be a great way to give away parts at christmas. Lots of people sponsor families. Members could nominate people with a short story and other members can choose to do something.

While im spewing out ideas, a beer buddy list would be good too. Pair people to buy ech other a beer on the deck znx the deal is you stick around and chat about the event for that beer.

I like the gift exchange idea, it allows the recipient to receive an actual gift without knowing what it is … just like Christmas used to be ;-)

The only thing I like about doing the open gifting is it allows other a chance to get something they may need or even want.

So I am good with whatever, shall we vote on it? I can create a Poll
Gift Exchange
Or
Open Gifting
?

So many great ideas @Vumad I like the belated gift ideas and exchanging them in person at Daytona however I am sure more people would be able to participate online then at Daytona since not everyone is able to make the journey there, like myself.

A beer buddy for Daytona sounds like a lot of fun and should be something that is set up in the Daytona thread pre-event.

I am all for sponsoring a new up and coming amateur an X-Community sponsored rider. Maybe that can be an organization we can create and each year sponsor a new rider. Sounds like a dream come true for anyone.

I could use a blowsion pad for their handle bars. lost mine in the water. I'd gift out a $20 dollar gas card or something. Maybe askers gift back dollars for something they can't find? or something? I donno.

But I'll participate as tis the season. Let's be honest. Jet skis are probably the best hobby possible.

I still think a gift exchange works better on forums.
It can be very simple. Post a thread to generate interest. Give people 10 days or so to sign up and add their names to a list on the original post. After the 10 days pair participants with one another on the list in the first post. The responsibility lies on the participants to message their pair to exchange addresses, ect. Pairing partners publicly reduces the chances of someone getting shafted out of a gift as most people opt not to be "that guy" who doesnt come through for their gift partner.
Then participants simply send small useful gifts to their paired partner.

A gifting group would likely turn into a bunch of people saying "i need this, i need that" and expecting (hoping) for someone to send them _____ item.

I understand where you coming from.
however, one of the rules is NO ONE is allowed to ask for anything! so people saying I need this or that, will be ignored!
if this flops always next year to do the gift exchange
