intake port matching question

I'm cleaning up my intake surfaces and roughing them up slightly with sandpaper. When I went to check my intake (61x) to the intake reed holder. There was quite the mismatch, probably a good 2mm all the way around. Is there any reason not to match this? Just checking to make sure its not better a little tight to help air speed, but I would think thats not to big of factor and just match em. Also the surface is rough cast, should I clean this up and then just rough up with sandpaper?

Already matched and smoothed the exhaust side.

TIA.

You have me a little confused, Reeds or transfer ports?

if it's the transfer, then Yes most definately

The reeds? exactly where do you mean?

not transfers or anything on the cylinder.

should i match between intake manifold, the 61x top intake (connects to carb), and the lower intake (connects to cases, holds reed cages). sorry, thats the best terms i know to use. just wondering if i should clean up the top intake and match it to the lower. i assume this would be good to do.

It's been a while sine I last did one, I'll look tomorrw & let you know for sure, But the word you are looking for is to "Blend" the parts to act as one. If it is what I belive it is, Then Yes, you will need to blend them
