Blaster Intake grate and ride plate preferences/opinions

I have been reading and researching intake grates and ride plates for a little while now and still cant decide on what is best for me. I ride a little of everything, lakes, ocean, rivers, surf, etc. I have been setting up my B1 to be an all around recreational type ski. I have seen a lot of people recommending Worx201 and R&D top loader intakes. Any opinions from experience on what may be best for all around riding. I guess I dont want to lose top end and want to have good hook up in chop.

Also, I am really lost when it comes to ride plates. A while ago I was leaning toward a Riva Groovy, but lately have been reading more about Jet Dynamics or even a Shredmaster. Any opinions or advice anyone can lend would be appreciated.

Thanks

I run a worx 201 and a riva groovy plate and love that setup. I ride both on lakes and in the surf. The worx 201 hooks up really well in chop and I didn't notice any top end loss when I put it on. As far as the ride plate I think any kind of extended ride plate will help more on cornering. Just my opinion!!

I assume the Riva Groovy is an extended ride plate then? Also, have you ridden with other ride plates? If so, how does the Riva Groovy compare? Any differences in cornering?

Cool, thanks. Anyone run a r&d or shred master ride plate? And does anyone have experience or know the differences in handling between different plates?

I have had the Riva, both types of Ocean Pro and Jet dynamics. I put a jet Dynamics on one of my Blasters then changed the plates on my other one for a real time back to back. Conclusion is they all are very good for overall riding and not a lot of difference in cornering. The difference to me is in top speed stability and that is where none of them were as good as the JD, so now both of them have JD and I have one OP left for sale. Intake grates, I run Solas on both. Hope this helps

Great, thanks for the input. That's the plate I was thinking of, the JD, not r&d as I said above. The JD is sounding pretty good. I haven't seen those Silas grates tho. How do u like it?

I personally don't notice much difference between any of the dual scoop grates. The ones that protrude past the hull surface do have more "braking effect" off throttle to me but thats about it. Maybe I ought to try the Worx but what I got works

I'm running works 201 and like stated it hooks up well in chop, was running a groovy plate but cracked it clean in half in the surf, as for now I run a stocker with a d cut and it really helps for tossing ski around, so basically I don't have much input on ride plates, but for sure the right intake grate is prob the biggest diff you'll notice.

My groovy cracked too but not completely, and being cast, there isn't much you can do to fix it. Think I'm going to try a composite one next if this one lets go.

Never had a real hook up problem with the Solas intakes. One Blaster is running a blueprinted pump with Hooker 11/17 5mm cut back. The other has a same pump and a Skat 10/18. The WORX 201 makes a big difference you guys think?

Ya, a lot of people seem to recommend the 201. I think I will be doing more lake and river riding this season than surf riding, so I am leaning toward arise plate that is well suited for good cornerin thinking of the JD or shred master, but don't know if I wanna spend the $ on the shred.

I rode my friends blaster that had a shred master and he rode mine with the JD and we both felt they were so close in cornering to hard to call. Straight line stability it was the JD for both of us. Just opinion from a couple of low skill rec riders

Nice, thats what I wanted to hear. I was leaning toward the JD but heard a lot of good things about the Shredmaster and was starting to lean toward that. I just didnt feel like spending the money on it, especially where I am just a rec rider. I think I am gonna go with a Worx201 grate and JD plate. Sounds like a solid setup.

Yeah just got new ported 710 with RAD flywheel,Riva ignition,JSS coils,Z-force modded 38's, Coffmans lightning pipe, blue printed pump and Hooker 11/17 cut back 5 mm. Gonna try to get it in the water Saturday. Z-Force ported 718 with 46's on DASA intake for my other one I still have to install.

"yeah I really like the worx 201 it does have a little breaking effect to it but it always hooks very well up in surf."

That's y I love the 201 bc u approach set up body position let off throttle slightly load the pump and squeeze!
