anyone have their standup insured for a value GREATER than actual (blue book)?

i know probably the majority of us have skis that are worth maybe $2,000 blue book wise, but are actually worth closer to 4-10,000 in aftermarket parts, labor, etc...

anyone been able to insure for an agreed upon value, or say cash value +++?

please state who and for how much....

I just increased the insurance on mine last week w/State Farm to $13,500. They wanted pics and receipts to be available if there is ever a claim. I tried to downplay the horsepwer issue as much as possible. They were very good about it. I also have a very good track record w/them and have not filed many claims in 20 or so years so that helps. They also do NOT insure vehicles that are used in competetion.

i dont have insurance cuz nobody wnts to ensure a ski for 3 or 4 months, and only that time. they want a full years worth of crap. Mine are safe in the winter when not riding, they dont need insurance then. tucked way away in a warehouse owed by a huge company who is very secure. insurance is legalized crime anyway, flippin stealers

It's a gamble for sure. They bet that you will not need insurance. You bet that you will. I'm insured primarily to protect me in case of theft or fire. Buying parts here and there for a couple of years, it's pretty easy to get to a place where it would take $15,000 or more to replace a boat if you didn't have the luxury of buying used.

...this thread has me thinking.

I know what you mean. You don't realize how much cash you've got tied up in this stuff until you itemize what it would cost you to replace a complete mod boat w/new parts. I guess it doesn't seem so bad when you buy parts over a long period of time especially if you find good deals on them. It'd be tough if you went outside one morning and it was gone and you had to start from scratch.

GASKETS FOR CHAMP BRAP!
18 years and prolly 30 some ski's ive bought in that time, I've never had any insurance. I'm very picky who i let ride, but getting ripped off or your ski in a fire would suck. Insurance would be nice i guess..

i have always had insurance on the skis
you just never know
i have them "valued and covered"
i have all receipts and paper work

my main thing i told them was custom hull work

taking the $$ for the policy is one thing... hafta see if i ever need to use it to see what hassels we would get.

i'm with progressive, as that was the only one i could find in NY
i honestly think it should be mandatory, just like a car/motorcycle
licensed, reg'ed, insured, and coast guard inspected.

brraap....thats so 2002
i have always figured it wasnt worth it to insure them, but this riotride ski might be the exception.

insurance is something ive been curious about too.how much do you guys w/ the high valued policies pay?i'm sure it depends on where you live and all, but a ball park would be nice.oh and fyi progressive insurance will f you when it comes time to pay a claim.at least thats how they are w/ auto ins. i've been on both sides of the fence w/ them- once they were my carrier and once i got hit by someone that they insured who was ticketed for causing the accident and i had to settle for just my medical bills being paid and nothing for my totaled truck in order to not have it take 3 years to get the money and not f up my credit w/ the med bills-and i had a good lawyer.the'll also have a body shop fix a completely totaled car and just give it back to you w/ a bent frame in order to not give you money-well all ins companiies do this a little but they are the worst-i do alot of work w/ body shops and they all say the same thing-stay away from them.basicly if your driving down the rode and someone rear ends you and thier ins card says progressive-just beat their a55 and leave cuz you wont get any money and they'll just fix your car w/ parts from the junkyard.i could only imagine what they'd tell you if your composite hulled lamey sj got stolen or hit buy a car on the trailer."thank you for the 3 years of premiums sir, here's an sbt motor and we'll have mako fix your hull w/ bondo, the blue book on your b pipe is 40.00,thanx ,come again!"
